Hello there!

I started working on a toy train, using a this reference image:

And this is what I have thus far:

I'm mainly wondering about colors, shading (light source is placed on the top left), and readability.
I'll be adding wagons and a simple background, any tips on that?

Thanks a lot!

Not bad!You have a really good base for it so far!

You have a good ref though the shading on your ref doesn't 100% follow the shading you are looking for.
I made the colours brighter to make the shading easier to read and rounded out the shapes a little more to make it look like a toy. I also added some high lights on the wheels too.
I hope that was helpful :>

Thanks a lot! Really appreciate your comments

I'm not using the reference for shading really, just to get an idea of the shapes.

I really love the brighter colours in your edit, I'll definitely be using those now!
I'll post an update here soon.

Thanks again!

Here's some more work on the toy train, expanding upon LCSkeleton's awesome ideas:

I'll continue working on some wagons, and maybe a bit of animation (the "nose" of the train lights on/off), but I'd love to get comments, especially about shading.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks!
