srsly. how do I shot lava? I've got no idea. I tried googling for pics of lava, it just isn't coming to me, and every picture looks different. lava sounds like it'd be easy sure, but like, its not, or something. i dunno. first try with C64 and widepixels ;p

http://www.185vfx.com/megiddo/mini/lava-table.jpg - This  picture tells me that you should just draw a yellow stream and add little black islands on it that are slowly fading into the lava, but you should keep the sharp edges on one side of the island though.
I just think that you just have one of those days when nothing works (like I do), try again tomorrow and maybe you get it better!

Also remember, lava flows SLOW, your lava stream seems more like fast-flowing... make more curvy and not so straight edges. If lava is higher from the ground, use some hilights or something....

Pff, thats my amature advise to you. I still hope it helps though...
