Thanks a lot guys, it's a piece of Boris Vallego work, and a tough one at that.

Um guys...Pardon me a moment while I play the devil's advocate here (No pun intended)...
I compared the Vallejo print side by side with the finished piece in the PJ gallery and there are quite a few differences...Far shoulder and arm, general posture of the shoulders (both of 'em), butt, near leg...While I grant you that the piece is certainly good enough that it becomes suspect when stacked next to the original, I'm of the opinion that these are Al's lines based off of -looking- at Vallejo's original...
[EDIT] Subtracting stupidity My bad...And sorry if my post offends...I may have misinterpreted...This is why I usually don't say much...
[/EDIT]
Just my opinion, any and all of you are more than welcome to tell me to STFU...K thx...

Progress GIFs cancel most suspicion.
That being said, I'm still against direct referencing like so. I much prefer multiple references and creating something new myself, rather than trying to immitate something exactly.
It IS good, but it doesn't really demonstrate skill imo. This is what I believe Ensellitis was saying with his most-likely-sarcastic comment.

thats pretty much it... it is easy to pixel something that is already
out there... it takes real skill and dedication to pixel something
new... well, if i said that wrong, look at sab's comment, cause he hit
the hammer on the VCR

In defense of Alan:
Guys, you really need to lighten up on the whole originaity bit. Haven't you ever drawn from a picture? Or for that matter, drawn still life? You're still taking direct reference from what you see, taking in mind the light and colours and pose of the subject. It still takes a certain amount of skill to draw from eye onto a canvas of any sort.
I will add though, to counterpoint, that ones gallery should not be filled with only referenced drawings.

Even though I copied this from his canvas work, doesn't make it any different to copying from a photo of a bodybuilder and making him red, both almost as hard as each other, does this make Boris Vallego's work rubbish? No. There is NO WAY you can produce a piece of work like this and his original without using a reference of some kind i.e. photo, it's simply not possible, if you did attempt this without a photo it would look poor, or, if you spent weeks or rather months you may be able to make it good, but no way as spectacular as from a photo. Yeah sure I should of changed it a bit, I dont get a lot of time these days.
Thanks pixelblink for your words, I think this is the only grown up crit I've had on this matter, it's nice to know that not all the top dogs here have a grudge against me.
Ensellitis: That was merely a pointless bash, I think that was un-called for and the reason why I'm leaving this forum as from now, this is a perfect example of not being welcome. You and the other admins who have a problem with me have got what you wanted.

OH one last thing Ensellitis, I dont see you making any comments about the Sara Brightman portrait, or the rider? They are also 100% direct copies. Strange that.

please tell me how i bashed you? i simply stated it takes real skill/talent to make something from scratch, did i say to you that YOU didn't? no, not anywhere in there. you do have skill from what i've seen.
you need to realize you are reading text, not body movement and expressions. i will not apologize to you, or any others in your "crew" for the actions taken by the admins, we treated you like every tom, dick, and jane that stumbles in.

everyone needs to calm the hell down. Everyone.
If anyone here has anything to say personally against each other, please do it via PMs. We don't need a lynchmob attitude circulating in the forums.
Personally, I think we should start acting a bit more mature towards one another and try to be a bit more understanding of where the other is coming from. Try a bit of patience and tolerance and choose your words carefully. If all that fails... then you can lynch away. So far, I've not seen alot of this. Peace & love

This is SARCASM!!! And served only one purpose, to annoy the person it was aimed at, you are an admin for christ sake.
You clearly dont get many people kicking up a stink on here do you, what I said in my Dare Devil thread was merely me trying to shed light on a few things I was little upset/confused about, when you made your reply I said that was better and appreciated it, the arguements after that were NOTHING TO DO WITH ME! I didn't ask him to say those things, infact my reply was that I just wanted to get along.
My first post, The Hulk recieved some nice comments but I also recieved rather nasty ones clearly from people who didn't like the entrance I made, i.e. sticking up for a couple of pals, so I deleted it. I remember calling one chap jealous which was very harsh and didn't mean it, I need to hunt him out and appologise.
Other than that see ya later, or in my case not. Just like to thank pixelblink, your a genuine bloke.

Tracing is frowned upon, i must say, if in the description of the piece in the gallery doesn't state that it was traced and the reference given. I don't think there's anything wrong with tracing, as long as you're only trying to improve your skills. I'm not 100% sure if i like having these practice works in the gallery though, but from recieving critisism from the members here about it and how it was pixelled, i suppose it is alright because it will help the member improve.
Guys i know you're still annoyed but i think it'd be best to lay off for a while so everything can cool down.
I think i might lock this now.
