Alright, I'm pretty new to Pixel Joint and I have a WIP that -really- needs some help... I'm not so good in anatomy as I am new to it, but I think I can get better with the help of you guys.

pros:

- the fire is awesome
- nice texturing
- nice coloring/shading
cons:
- the muscles are out of proportion (his) right arm is bulkyer than (his) left one is
-(his)right arm is WAY too bulky
rating:
5/10 (5 off for bad anatomy)

we rate in the gallery, we give crits here.

crits:
his deltoid shoiuld be abit more slender and wedge itself between the bicept and the tricept (which currently, there is no division between the two. Its just one solid mass).  Right now, he has no elbow to speak of...just a bicept lump connected to the forearm lump which creates this very disturbing segmented look in his arm.  Hands are quite small.  Legs need to be longer by quite a bit.  (his) left arm is missing a deltoid completely.  His (left) forearm hand and wrist areas are too small overall.  And finally the flame isn't working too well at all

the actual technique used here is actually quite good and solid.  colours aren't all too bad either - especially for somebody new to the forum.  Usually people start off not nearly as good.  I especially like the torso area of this piece, even though the abs are abnormally large.  If you want, I can wip up an edit of this for you to help demonstrait the things i've said.

good work overall, and welcome to the forum.  i'm sure you'll be quite comfortable here

-Dan

welcome!  im glad you actually posted this here instead of "saying" you would and never doing so...

one thing i always do when dealing with anatomy is get reference photos.  however, googling anatomy can be a bit, um, pornographic...  so i will just give you the refs i use when drawing/pixeling the male body:
http://www.ashlandschools.org/morgan_cottle/body/muscles.gif - http://www.ashlandschools.org/morgan_cottle/body/muscles.gif
http://www.theacornschool.com/new_images/muscles.gif - http://www.theacornschool.com/new_images/muscles.gif

and of course, you always have "dumb ass with his hat" for bigger build people:

like indigo said the colors look great, and the shading is great for a new guy.  along with anatomy, you should also think about changing his stance.  right now he looks plain.  try maybe cocking back a leg a bit, give his face a POed expression...  just a suggestion.

welcome aboard

Yeah, that would be great.. But, can you do it so that it will just give me an idea on how I should fix it better?

you shouldnt have copy pasted the fire, and the anatomy is a bit harsh, but the torso doesnt look that bad.
