Its beena while since Ive been here, I havent had any ideas, this one has been in my head for a while and I actually started it last month.

I havent dithered it yet (the earpads are supposed to be foam) and I think it looks ok without the dither? Any suggestions on color would be helpful.

The highlights on the edges go down all the way, but since the lightsource is from above, I'd gently lose the highlights as the edges begin to face downward like, for example, the lower parts of the highlighted edges on the circular earpads and the lower edge of the top arched bit. Also, sorry to be fussy but I wouldn't have expected this to have had 14 colours. This could be done with much less colours. But overall nice work so far.

Badass.
Superb AA technique you have there.

I looks really good, but it's seriously jaggedy. Probably because it's still a wip right?

It seems you're having trouble with the top part. I think the highlight line on the side would just go across the middle there, rather than doing what it is at the moment.

I personally think some of the circle areas seem a bit less than perfect circles. As if they have slight points on their sides. Not anything serious though.

I have lawrence telling me I have too many colors, and larwick telling me its too jagged? I tried to use the tech. I used on some of my other stuff for the edges but I dont think they looked too defined that way?

Thankyou Skull :)

Lar do you mean the outside lines?

I can see the circles are kinda off now I think I need to widen them by a pixel or 2?

um, make what you will of this:

The red line shows what i was meaning there, with the highlight colour. The blue areas are just random really, but do serve some purpose. The green areas are some jaggedy parts i could find quickly.

While looking closer at this i realised you're using a fat load of colours, and personally i'd find that really hard to work with. I also don't think the dithering on the ear part is viewable at 1x and so doesn't have much point.

Hope that helps ... maybe.

?

I dont want to reduce the colors, I wanted the wide range of grey scale!

The ear pads are more visible on a laptop (which is what I started this on)

What is the texture of the dark ear-pads? If it's foam then I wouldn't expect such a bright highlight. It's looking better now, but I'm still not sure about the top bit. I'd love to make a quick edit of this if that's ok.

I think the red looks fine, but i honestly can't stand the blue. I think it's because the saturation doesnt diminish in the shadows, which of course would happen in real life. And because i don't like that sort of blue in general, and the blue and red don't go together well. Perhaps try some hue shifting... i find the white highlight sort of boring.

I like the icons and thingeymagigs though. =)

I'm not really sure about the antialiasing on the icons. http://lawrence.lh.googlepages.com/pixelart - This might be some help. Also, I still think the highlights on the edges should cease when the edge starts facing away from the lightsource. For example on the foam pads, the curved edge's highlight goes down too far in my opinion. I'll make an edit soon.

hmm.. i think that in the last pic the better is better then the best, because the last seems blurry and overdone.

Lol, well, I mean "best" in theory, in terms of the principle of anti-aliasing. I definitely acknolwedge throughout all of art, artist often deliberately choose not to stick to the theoretical side in order to achieve preferred styles etc. Thanks for pointing that out to me, I'll have to include that on the page.

Its not your comment,The blues I use look weird on some LCD's or Laptops. If you monitor is really big (from front to back ) its an CRT (Cathode Ray Tube).

Some people say the blues I use are real nice so when someone says that I see it as a matter of opinion.

Now it makes sense :P

I try not to use those for my AA, I try to make it look as smooth as possible to me, unfort. this also creates a line that seems a bit blurry but that line hopefully blends smoothly into the background

I think that lawrence improved the blue and red parts, but the earpads and the band still have some issues.

The emphasis of my edit was on the lighting, really. You don't have to do dithering, but I was just showing what I meant about the highlights etc.

I like what you did with the blue but I dont like the red nor do I want it dithered and I dont want to decrease the color count, im fine with it, I didnt want to limit my color use with this.
