Heya!

This is 1/3 of the background for a pixel scene I'm working on and I'd really like to get some constructive criticism.

Here's the piece:

Welcome to the forum. You know what you are going after in your mind. We are unable to read your mind. It's not possible to offer any constructive crits if you only offer us 1/3 of your image and 0/3 of what this is about and where you hope to go with it. When posting a thread its really important to let everyone know what it is you seek in specific terms. Are you seeking realism? color selection? perspective help? specific technique? lighting? etc.

Hi there. Hmm well firstly I think you can really cut down on the number of colours you are using; the number of blues is huge and unnecessary. Secondly the scene as a whole seems unconvincing, its hard to gauge whether or not the rock is a cross-section or not, since it has the appearance of being dry. Perhaps try adding more blue to the colours of the rock.
Thirdly, the image appears extremely flat, perhaps try adding more to the background to create some depth.
Those are the main things, those aside, the coral looks quite nice :).

The biggest problem I have with this is the beams dont seem to be coming from the same location, nice work so far though

you mean saturated? I'm really getting sick of your comments. You keep making sharp comments with barely a hint of how to improve. It makes you look like an ass.

ANYWAY.

I think you need to find a lightsource. Where is the light coming from? Then you'll know how to shade it to make it more dynamic. Where's your light source?
