Noted, I've introduced some browns and dark reds, for the cloth.

I remember this lineart . Looking quite good so far, though the white on the skin seems a little confusing, perhaps try a more fleshed out highlight?
Looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

I see your point :

I might re-use the white if I make the highlights more noticable.

I love this lineart. You're doing a good coloring job so far. I hope you consider a BG/setting for her. If not, its cool.
TIP: White and Black are your enemies (more often than not).

.

Yeah, black was much too dark, so I've changed that.

A background is a nice idea, but I'm not sure what I'd do, if anything.

a coloseum as if she was in the centre so you see people sitting around her.... then you could add some dead lions if you felt like going for it...

Gasp - that'll be cruel.. but awesome looking. I think I'll leave out a background, for now anway.

i'm missing some contrast. a lot actually. right now i dont notice too much of the shading, except on the belly and back leg
and some slightly brighter(saturated) colours would make it look better too imho

Whoa...great idea!
I was also thinking, along those lines, that she looks pretty tired/remorseful with her face in her arm. So, I was picturing the dead body behind her of someone she didn't want to spear, but had too. Maybe a lover/rival fighter who stood in the way of some greater purpose she had to fulfill.
