sprite

Sorry for not having a proper introduction thread.. but I really dont know how to fix this.

I think mines looks fairly well unshaded (for an unshaded sprite). But when I begin to shade it... It always ends up looking really bad..

I know there are great sprite tutorials at SpriteArt.com, have read about all of them there which are related to RPG like sprites.

I know I should treat it as 3d and not as 2d...

But I still don't know how to actually shade it properly... do you know some non rpg sprite (or rpg sprite) tutorials wich work on such a small scale or can you give me some hints as how to improve my work?

I'd be forever in your debt, you don't need to respond nice.. I only want to get better.

Highlight Points on Most Face-Forward sprites:
- Right under eyes
- On top of head/hair/helmet
- Nose area
- Shoulders
- Edge of Hands

Shading:
- Anything that falls on a lower level of whats seen first.
* Such as just below your sprite's helmet, instead of highlighting there, it should be shaded.
- Inner arms
- Inner legs
- Behind Ears/back of head
- Palms of hands

As for C&C about the piece, the upper body looks like a box. :D
