The Mopctopus was very famous around 198X, because it had Mops at three tentacles, so they were largely used to clean houses, even though that was illegal by then.Don't Mopctopus and drive. If your Mopctopus starts smoking, seek shelter and cover your head.

So, any ideas for the background, or comments on the overall lineart? o,o

I am gonna make more detail in it, cause its a bit empty at the moment...

Outside of America, the name "Daddy Long-Legs" often refers to the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crane_fly - Crane Fly which has precisely 6 legs.

i heard the daddy longlegs (american definition) has insanely poisonous venom, but it's fangs/mouthparts are too small to get under human skin.  HA!  what a loser.

I've been a lurker here for awhile, and I haven't done any pixel art in ages, but these weekly challenges have inspired me.  I'm working on something for this, hopefully I will get it in.

Everybody has some pretty cool ideas so far.

Oh yeah and the daddy longlegs actually have no venom at all.  Thats a myth, I thought that was true for years though

I agree, and to prove my point here are some details against the myth about the "poisenous spider":

  • Daddy-longlegs (Opiliones) - these arachnids make their living by eating decomposing vegetative and animal matter although are opportunist predators if they can get away with it. They do not have venom glands, fangs or any other mechanism for chemically subduing their food. Therefore, they do not have poison and, by the powers of logic, cannot be poisonous from venom. Some have defensive secretions that might be poisonous to small animals if ingested. So, for these daddy-long-legs, the tale is clearly false.
  • Daddy-longlegs spiders (Pholcidae) - Here, the myth is incorrect at least in making claims that have no basis in known facts. There is no reference to any pholcid spider biting a human and causing any detrimental reaction. If these spiders were indeed deadly poisonous but couldn't bite humans, then the only way we would know that they are poisonous is by milking them and injecting the venom into humans. For a variety of reasons including Amnesty International and a humanitarian code of ethics, this research has never been done. Furthermore, there are no toxicological studies testing the lethality of pholcid venom on any mammalian system (this is usually done with mice). Therefore, no information is available on the likely toxic effects of their venom in humans, so the part of the myth about their being especially poisonous is just that: a myth. There is no scientific basis for the supposition that they are deadly poisonous and there is no reason to assume that it is true.

Oh and which one do you guys like more?

Hairyu, I think it would be good if you did a little animating... so it looks like it's dusting. It's a tad hard to tell at first glance, but very nice, indeed.

good idea about those legs holding up the toaster, i might just do that...

anyway... enselltis and setzer... I want to try new kinds of techniques for shading, and although i can use up to 32 colours, ill keep the dithering a bit like this... I want it to be cartoonish, and i want the dithering very strong... Not everything has to be smooth, does it...?

and about the olar refrigerator... i heard one of my friends talking about such an idea too, for this comp.

The lineart is cool so this will be great whatever you do. I however find your stylistic choices here are fresh and cool and wouldn't change them.

i agree... it looks nike the normal hammerhead shark... so, you might want to remove the left eye and put it somewhere else, and make some kind of peg or something which they use to pull nails out (also adding a nail in the peg, or make the shark hammering a nail into the wood...

@Opacus:  Are you going to make the shark more "hammer-y"?

@Sirus: That looks ripe for some funky animation.

@Solid Idea:  Oooh, the night palette is beautiful. One minor suggestion is to add a standard two socket panel where it plugs in.  I mistook that for a tail at first glance (yes, I know polar bears don't have wire tails).

Sorry, it's late and I'm rambling.

Here is my WIP, it's a vacuum dog, but you can really tell only by looking at him in the inside, outside it looks like a normal dog, he justs has the on/off and buttons panel on his forehead, and the handle on the tail (might do something in his legs. Also, I will do a bag for lungs (idea by ensellitis)

iSTVAN: LMAO at the name "Tarantula Spatula". Nice entry!
dra_chan: Really cool that you made it an x-ray image :) Great idea.
Possum: Heh, for some reason that possum doesn't look too happy to wear that bulb. Nice job

@dra,
@iSTVAN, Maybe a tray or frying pan or something that shows it 'spatuling'?

I won't have the time to make an entry so I'm giving my idea away.
A Hamster clother hamper, a hamsper.

Jalonso: I also had an idea for using a hamster. I was going to make a hamster shaped clock with the words 'HAMSTER TIME' written around it- then and animated x-ray would reveal a hamster inside running and powering the clock.

Wish I had time to animate the frying pan bit, but I've had to settle with a http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/18657.htm#c82656 - leap off screen.

Nice entry dfo!
