Wow, so I've been without my own computer for the last few months which has meant no pixeling for me. But I'm back and working on this piece for the Eden monthly collab. The theme is lanterns and the base we are using is here: http://mc.buttertoast.org/deac/index2.php?section=bases/puuyabases

I'm terribly out of practise and had to give myself a good break before continuing so any suggestions are welcome. She'll be holding a lantern in her right hand once I get to that point. Are the palettes contrasty enough? I kind of feel like they could use some more, but I also don't want to push the palettes too far, cause this will be put into a piece with a bunch of other dolls, and the ones I have seen so far are much less dramatically lit.

I know getting back in the swing of pixelling takes a pixel or two. Just keep an eye on the blacks, is all I say. On my monitor there is not enough contrast on the cape/black, even though the face seems fine in contrast. Maybe the lighting from the lantern will take care of that...just pixel away.

ps: kudos on making the base your own with something as simple as the hand moved.

Do you have any specific suggestions for improving the hair snader? Aside from the highlights looking kind of junky, I don't really have a problem with the way the hair looks, so I'm not sure what you have in mind.

The lantern is just going to have a yellow-white light. Nothing too interesting or dramatic.

I love the light effect on her face, and I feel out of place cc-ing your stuff! hehe, your bases are awesome- way beyond my skills ;) ok ok back to the item at hand.. anywho.. the only problems i see- are as previously mentioned, the cloak does need some more light, and possibly go for a diff color besides grey to highlight it? like a dark yellow/brown if your lantern is going to be yellow?

and your lines are a little jagged on the back of her cloak, and the lantern lines

So I injured my back during the week which pretty much meant no going on the computer, but I had to have this finished for the 28th, so here's what I've got, keeping in mind that it's a total rush job and mostly crap.

I'm not finding the dress too objectionable (The shading on the sleeves needs some reworking,) and I think the hand is okay. You can just ignore the shading on the cloak, cause it's total junk and I'm going to re-do it entirely. I did push the contrast on the cloak up a bit, so if you have C&C on the palette that would be cool.

I'd really like suggestions on making the lantern look good - I haven't done a lot of pixeling of glass and even less of glass lit from within, so I'm a little short on ideas for the execution. Keep in mind that this is going to stay on a transparent background.

So C&C on everything but the cloak would be great - you can even C&C the cloak if you want, but I am already planning on scrapping it and starting over on the shading.
