I'm making the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Four_Horsemen_of_the_Apocalypse - (wiki it if you dont know what I'm talking about) I'm starting with War. He rides the red horse. I know that anadomy is messed up and I could use some help with it. As you can see I did go out of my way to hide the hand, so I could really use some help with that.
I'm going to make the mane and tail out of fire, so there's no need to worry about those as I'm going to do them last. However, if you want to make some suggestions dont let me stand in your way.
Thanks in advance.

I tried to do a quick little edit, but realised you're right, drawing a hand at that angle really isnt that easy. =D
Anyways heres what i tried, maybe will give you some ideas.

Thanks. I think I need to bulk up the horse a little, this one's susposed to be the biggest out of the bunch. Maybe I can find a book or website or horse anatomy...

I would start smaller. That might help you form the anatomy better.

i think the hand edit was supposed to give you *suggestions* not something to paste into your picture.
Also the horse needs to be bigger. and not just because whatever the story line is where he rides the biggest horse, but because right now it looks like he's squashing a pony. I mean just look - the riders foot (his leg is bent the wrong way, btw) goes out further than the horse's legs! you should google horses in comparison to people. I'm quite sure they're bigger.

If anyone knows any tutorials that involve shading fire, that would help me out a lot.

Making a hand is easy, because you can use yourself as a model. Don't be afraid to model the pose in the mirror and take some mental notes or even have someone take a picture of you (or you of a willing participant :) ) with your hand in this position. Thats how I started out doing hands and its MUCH easier to do when you have seen the hand in the proper position for a while. The muscles shouldnt be too hard either, once you can see the muscles on yourself or your model, put those in the picture, then just beef them up.
As for fire, its usually darker near the origin of the flame, gets bright as it spreads out, then dims to nothing on the outside edge. Not sure if that will work for supernatural green flames, but its worth a shot.

Take a good look at that arm; somehow it seems as if a abnormally long wrist is poking directly out of a bicep. The lower half of his leg seems to bend outwards (that is generally a very painful thing to do. Try it)
There are alot of thigns wrong with the horse, I'm sure, but I don't like horses anyways. Googling some ref images, or even striking that pose into a mirror, will help you greatly with this.

Looking better, but there's still something dodgy about the perspective. The horse doesn't look the same perspective as the guy.

I use that color because it's the one that I'm least likely to actually put in the picture.

I think you should make the sword a little more intimidating.
It has too much of cartoony feeling to it, from being so thin to be so wide.
