I have no idea what I'm doing. Any suggestions?

It looks like it's going pretty well.  You've done a good job giving that doorway/opening some some depth, and the character design is nice.  Keep at it.

I really dig (get it?) the sand texture on the building. The spire at the top looks a little flat, and the inside back wall could use some texture.

That left building looks awesome, nice job on the texture, no crits here.

I think the water is going to be the hardest part. I should probably add another crab guy somewhere, too.

Edit: And some different colors.

Replaced the two darkest colors with black so I can get an extra color for the water.

Yeah, he's looking a little lonely.

I really like this. Keep it up!

I like the lower contrasted one better.  But the second one looks good.

I like the higher contrast, but I think your sand colors got just a teensy bit too green.

How about this?

Threw a layer of pure blue over it at 15% opacity.

???

Adding blue isn't a good way to neutralize green

Anyhow, I think it's too blue now, and I think you'd be better served to handpick your colors.

I still like it though

Well, I thought it looked better with the lower contrast because it's under water, right?

Hum. I thought this was a seaside scene. I guess the anemone and the coral should have tipped me off >_>

Kind of throws my brilliant color advice out the window -_-

Don't worry, Hatch, I could feel the same way!  Is on the beach or underwater?

Underwater. I'm going to add some kelp and stuff, and make the blue part at the top actually look like the surface of the water. Hopefully it'll look less beachlike.

Ah! Well, knowing that, I think I like the last one the best (the blue one). It looks the most underwater-y to me.

I want to add some fish, and maybe some clams, but I am having trouble making the clam look like a clam.

Agreed, looks good.

Yup! A fish will make it look underwater.
