It's a good start, but it needs alot more contrast. I also think her left foot (the one nearest us) should be flat on the ground.

the leg that's raised is also too long.

What's with people against AA? It's integral to pixel art. Like, if you mean don't go crazy as in dont over-AA, then thats fine. But you must AA to some degree. Also, what's with people always suggesting the darkness depth technique? Not trying to lash out, but I personally don't think that's the be and end all solution to depth. I think just trying shading to illustrate form is fine.

its already AA'ed, but people in their early stages tend to believe that everything must be AA'ed. or dithered, wich results in overdone things. that's all.
about darkness depth, in this case and for such small sprite, is to make a contrast. otherwise, it would appear that the leg is comming out from her ass.

Thanx for participation! Here's my progress.

>EyeCraft.

Seems that to make it more contrast, more readable is the main obstacle - there's risk to make leg look unnaturally with wrong skin color. Or not to make right leg grow into left - which is still hard for me.

Now I made it mainly playing on contrast of brightest and darkest parts.

And I left left leg in it's position becaurse it's not complitely static pose.

I think I fixed it by making right leg as long instead (or I think that it as long taking perspective in account - if it looks wrong, please tell about it), on lowest pic I rotated her and to me proportions don't look unnatural.

Is it too AA'sed in original image? Leg on this side -> /\_/| looks like all pits when it not used. Under the right leg is another talk, maybe. Or you're about shading?

Shading, contrast.

In regards to Metaru's comments on "no more AA", don't think of AA quantitatively. Think of it qualitatively. Ie, it's not about "more or less" AA, its about using it in the right places. The goal of AA is to imply detail between pixels. People mainly use it for smoothening out lines so they aren't so jagged, but AA doesn't stop there.

So yeah, check out my edits, and try to see where I used AA. Note that I didn't screen the whole image in a blur of noisy pixels, you're going to lose precision doing that. Amongst other problems.
