I might join this one, not sure.

Something like a mirror box would be cool. You will see yourself with camera 4 times thats also a bit difficult to make i guess xD

or, (only it doesnt comply to the challenge rules) you make the panorama circle shaped to make i vanishing point in the middle... (i hope you understand what i mean)...?

(Edit: i wanna make the last one, but since it doesnt comply... i should make 2 ) (although im quite sure i forget to finish 1 of the two)...

Edit2: I think im going for a panorama and put them above each other (so you get ground, air and then more ground...

There are some examples on 360 degrees panorama photos on flickr:
http://flickr.com/search/?q=360+panorama - http://flickr.com/search/?q=360+panorama

Check out the syndey 360 image if you want to have a bridge between
the previous challenge and this one

There are even some java/flash tools on the web you can use to
have a view of panorama pictures by moving the mouse so that
you get a tour ....

Best regards from

Nice, this one should be fun! I was wondering, are we allowed to toss a few characters in, or is the point to do just scenery? Ive got a few ideas that would be all the more fun with some humanesque folks in the mix.

I don't see why not. Go for it!

Damn, I hope I get enough time to submit an entry for this. I've always wanted to make a little panoramic scene.

ive been toying with entering this challenge.  not sure if Ill come close to finishing, but since no one else has put up a wip here's mine.

i wanted to go with a buddhist/tibetan style landscape.  im  running out of colors and the scale and shape of the canvas are bugging the f@#k out of me.

I know if the rules don't disallow something it's considered okay, but is there a minimum ratio of width to height to have in order for something to be considered "panoramic"?  Or is it just the matching ends that make it so?

after reading your post i realized it's not exceding 640x 120.  which means im gonna probably change mine.

But your current canvas size is fine... 640x120 is the maximum size allowed, and that's what you have.

Hello guys, I'm novice on this board but I see this contest...

There is my London Tube station in progress:

Colors are only for main shape view...

Posted By: sedgemonkey
Date Posted: 07 August 2007 at 11:09pm
Ooh, I like the perspective of that Pnaky. I was thinking of something similar with a David Hockney scattered picture feel to it.

@Klav:  It'll be interesting to see how you stretch the 16 colors in that scene.

@MashPotato:  I don't know what ratio is considered panoramic... I think focusing on the ends connecting is the most important.

that one looks more like a wide-angle camera rather than panoramic... or i'm wrong?

Well I heard when people take those kind of pictures they use a special 360 Camera.
So i think it's sopposed to be like that.

Just in case it answers questions. This is a panoramic fighting level made by flaber and me. (had to watermark it :/  )

Hi, I'm new here. This week's challenge sounded challenging, so I signed up.

I will be going for a mirrorbox with non reflective top and bottom, witch imho is not all that difficult to make.

WARNING the following WIP is only a guidelines thing. It's not pixelart yet.

Planning to add animation and/or an eyeball character.

And yes, I did buy a set of 6 mirrortiles for study purposes.

I thing, this is true view of 360 panorama picture... See the real preview from one of first posts...

Ok, and there is my next step:

Great ideas coming up. I was concerned about this one but its looking great by all.

@MistakeFur, I really look forward to your pano.
@Pnaky, that is one fantastic view.
@Klav, It has a very Chinese feeling to it, I likes.  *(DDD)

I forgot to make progress, but ill try to make something... and maybe if you see this image, youll see im making things difficult for myself...

So you dont only look 360, but also from one horizon to the other... and as far as i can see on everyone's pictures you all try to replicate some fish i lens-ish thing, but ill keep things flat.

Update:

It is now pixelled and the front-view has been centered. Also the perspective effect has been calculated rather than guessed by a perspective tool.

Still need to: Thicken the front lines and thin the back lines, set colours, and add animation and/or eyeball.

small advice
stop using so much outline :D!
currently youre in your dither-period and need to learn alot :p!i barely use dither anymore because i like to fully pixel ;P
dither is important for some structures etc tho

Yes, I know but for animation I need more then 8-10 frames and I don't have too much time for draw all frames... One interest for end this post: I draw it in MSpaint...

This is my entry to this challenge

http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/23563.htm - http://www.pixeljoint.com/pixelart/23563.htm
and WIP with some steps.

It took for me approx 8-9 hours to do this panorama, and I'm still not
sure that it's ready. There are a lot of places where detalisation isn't accurate. But I decided to submit it anyway, because
I'm going to take some rest and spend holidays outdoor with friends, so it will not be available to update this picture before deadline.
Required reflections: - city and aircrafts are reflecting in the water. And it was really hard to do this picture in 16 colors!
I hope you like it=)

edit: my progress again...

up next is the air, after that the reflections of the droplets, which im both not too good at, but practice makes perfect better.

Tnx soda

The progress so far, from old to new:

(First sketch)

(Fast fill)

(Shaded landscape)

(Quick fill of the air)

(Halfway Finished dithering of the air)

Edit: (Fully finished dithering of the air)

Colours will be changed, first gotta finish dithering the air (Takes a lot of work, and some careful placement to make sure everything is pixeled in the right position as i am using 2 sides on the piece).

But I'm still in progress...

check with irfanview (www.irfanview.com)(It's free) (to check, paste and go to Image>Information

and nice work so far, although it will be a lot of work to finish on time

Another edit. now the palette is changed, i can start on the reflections:
Old

New

question about the reflections... does it have to be a bit reflective (like reflecting light) or reflecting shapes like chrome?

Edit: I saw that the reflection bit isn't too strict if i look at other pieces, so here i got my reflections on the droplets. Colour edit up next, and then it should be almost ready:

Edit: I think i am quite finished, this is the result:

Using the darker shade on the panels the farther it gets away would help with depth.

i was hoping to see a bit more interesting colours, if you have any more time. Cause i think the linework is awesome, and i love infrastructure, but the colours are just letting the piece down. if id change it, id make either the lights more orange and warmer (and darker) colours on the walls and floor, or i would make the lights cold and blue and make the walls and floors a bit blue-ish grey.

Nice work, everyone
I doubt I'll be able to finish mine as I'm insanely slow, but I'll post my rough sketch so far (reflections will be in dew drops):

Does it make sense for a panorama to be up close, btw?  I don't really know...
