CHALLENGE: Pixels Gone Wild

Challenge winner http://www.pixeljoint.com/p/8943.htm - Radek challenges you to pixel a Mage or Wizard and in animal form. For example, a bear wizard casting a spell wearing a hooded cape. The animal does not need to be furry, snakes, birds and even bugs are allowed ; )

Rules:
  • Colors - 32 max
  • Canvas Size - Any but 240x240 max.
  • Transparency - Allowed
  • Animation - Allowed

May be in a scene or a self standing sprite. Self standing sprites must be transparent.

CHALLENGE RULES

  • Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to /pixels/submit_icons.asp'>submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
  • Only new pixels allowed.
  • Open to all members.
  • Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the /forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=8'>WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.

CHALLENGE JUDGING

  • Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
  • Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
  • Winner announced the following week.

CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES

  • Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy.
  • Top finisher gets to call the following week's challenge...sweet.
  • 'Participation' ribbons will be given for all who enter.
  • No matter what happens you get challenged :)

Two questions:

Could mage/wizard be in half human-half animal form? Or animal with, for example: human  head, or arm, or anything?

Could it be some mythical or imaginary creature? Mythical like : mintaur,  centaur, cerberus, phoenix ? Imaginary like : predator, alien.

Answers:

1) Yes, I think you CAN draw an animal in a humanoid form ;) - I found this, it should be a good example: http://greywolf.critter.net/images/ironclaw/standups/mage-07.gif - http://greywolf.critter.net/images/ironclaw/standups/mage-07.gif

But not human head. Draw an animal, not human with tiger tail ;)


2) Draw only real animals ;)

I was thinking of a Wizard Bear casting a Hooded Cape spell.

Or a spell with a hooded cape.

I did once, but I'd prefer not to talk about it.

Anyway it is later emphasized that it must be a real animal, and while I am not expert on bears, I doubt a real bear (or the vast majority of animals for that matter) would have the manual dexterity to hold a wand.

O_o? Sooooo.... make an animal, a real animal and not mythological, but in human form?



Technically speaking the moment they stand on two feet and wear human clothes they are no longer real animals.

I'm a little confused. So let's say I make a bull standing upright. Does that count as a bull standing up or does that count as a minotaur (which is a mythological creature)?

Based on your example and your explanation I created this [WIP]:

 

It's the ratmen death mage (something about Warhammer Skaven race, but in fact they cannot use magic). Need to polish this a little bit more.

Yes, standing bull is minotaur, but counts as a bull =) - but for example cerberus has got three heads. So if you want to draw dog mage/wizard, you can use only one head =P .. eh .. so, you must use base from real animal ;) Do you understand ? =)
