Just a fighter that I've been working on today.  I need some crits before I start animating him.

Don't AA on the outside. His stance looks a little weird, especially in his arms. Normally one would place his arms out further. The shoes need some more attention, too.

ejem, please, don't ever think about animating yet. looks like you badly tried to Sel Out those legs(wich appears to be pasted after the torso was made). your character rigth now has some serious anatomy problems involving the pose of the legs, arms, head, feets, and everything in general.

Meh, I decided to scrap my current fighter and restart.  So here's my new lineart.  I know the pose doesn't look great, and the anatomy is off, but hopefully you guys can critique me before I start coloring and shading this time.

When someone tells you that your anatomy is off, then the FIRST THING you should do is get a reference.
Use a stick figure as the base. While looking at your ref, create lineart.
This took me about 5 minutes.

dont use stick figures as references, use pictures. "Draw from life" can also apply to pixel art!

@Frankie- I didn't mean use sticks as refs, use it as the starting point.
@Ens- It was just an example on how to use the stick figure technique

Thanks, Metaru.  That spritesheet looks like it will be a huge help.
Anyway, I've created the stick figure base, using the sprite on the right as a reference.

Recolored the stick figure in red, and added mass.

its ok. just stay away from tracing and other cheap things like that.

also, his torso, on the abdomen zone, could be a bit more broad, since he's going to use a t-shirt, isn't him? it appears that someone bit that part off

Just added clothes and basic coloring.
Tried editing the torso like you suggested.
And don't worry, I'm doing my best to avoid doing anything cheap.  Though I will admit, I did trace over the ref for the stick, but that's all.  That's not too bad, right? >_>
