I been at this isometric character design for two weeks now and my exams are going on. sweet... this is what happened yesterday night:-
This came a long way from this
in begin i used ffta sprite base, but it was too small
i want to know whats wrong. Something doesn't feel right. And ya u guessed right, i am total noob at isometric art. All i used to do before was draw top view tanks for my game "Shell Shock" eg: {scavenger upgrades of same tank}etc
Drawing is the only thing i am not worst at,, please give suggestions for my pixel art.

Alright then , Not only is Jack skating but he got no nostrils! here see if this is better,, I dont know why. i seemed to confused between isometric and reality, i stubbed my toe 4 times today, trying to walk like Jack:-

and i also made an psi attack animation
http://img170.imageshack.us/img170/6783/jackattack2ui4.gif
and for some hellish reason i cant add images in posts sometimes--"Only members with sufficient permission can access this page." plus my links dont link, just behave like plane text,,In the post editor they work but in post ,nope,

I'd make that nose shadow a bit wider. And in the casting animation it disappears after the first frame.
And I'm not sure what to tell you about not being able to post images. That's really odd.

hmm...it looks peculiar. I think the fact that your walking animation isn't as fluid as it should be might be hurting. When he extends his leg it looks like he is taking baby steps, and generally when one walks the legs will be pointed in a near parallel line, yours splay out a little. It's possible to walk like this, but most people don't.

I dont understand, any pixel i move in the walking animation, it looks worse,, Or may be not, ill try harder..
I tried the nose shadow thing, But arent manga noses are supposed to be inhumanly small,
I was also working on something else, here:- http://imageshack.us">
It supposed to be mortal Kombat move, But is rather like hes throwing his arm, i think? Thanks to Metaru i finally got gifs posted direct from imageshack
More over i am also worried about the other directions especially the once where you can see Jacks back. Havent designed that yet.
Only two more exams left, then ill have more time for this.
I just changed the walking animation, is it ok now

Hi LeafCutter,
Like I wrote in your gallery it is a bit hard to see what is going on. The placement of the legs really work this time. They move more naturally in this pose. It looks like he is recharging an invisible weapon. I like the way that he moves his mouth, but the color you use for it makes it difficult to see in 1x view. Can you remove the little arch from his left (our right) arm. The arm-pit arch. I think it will look better without the arch and just stop where you went to the left.
My advice is to keep working on the piece before submitting to the gallery.
Good progress! Keep it up!
Best regards from

Hi Leaf Cutter,
Maybe you could work on the walking animation a little more?!?! It is still like he is not lifting his legs and he has a ski-walk motion.
As for the back image. I think it looks ok compared to the others.

the problem of your walking animation resides in the movement of the feet. check this example by http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/8196.htm - Adarias

see the difference? in your animation, your character's feet are always parallel to the ground, and thats unnatural, at least for an humanoid character. you have to put a bit more effort on those feet, and i'm sure the improvement will be evident. study it carefully, because the feet are only a part of what i want to show you.
