Is a TV considered as a household machine?

It's a machine... it's in the house... so one can only assume, yes.

does it have to be an animation? cuz i never made a good animation

Well its a challenge, don't enter if you don't want to do the animation but its always good to push yourself into areas you aren't comfortable with. If anything keep it simple and take it one step at a time.

Can we have a background?
Edit: Still answer if you want, but my need is now obsolete.

Can I make it larger than 96x96 and submit it later than Sunday? It's my old work and I can't get to my PC earlier. Oh, and also could it be some kind of fighting game scene? I'm not sure if blood allowed.
Just curious.

My first one... hmmm... got it! I'm thinking out of the box. Unless you keep your underwear in a box. WIP: I was thinking of adding hearts or making it blue with lighter blue stripes. Just wondering if any one cares, any suggestions?

Im guessing for this particular challenge they want people to animate, but theres nothing stopping you making this an excuse to do something productive for yourself.

Giving this a shot.
I Call it the Love seat.

I'm pretty satisfied with it so far. I might change the hearts though seems a bit girly.

Hi there!
I've been for some months in Pixel Joint, checking from time to time the wonderfull works posted and user galleries, but time constrains and lots of work had me far from creating new pixels... that's enough! i can't bear it anymore... the urge... the urge... must... join... challenge!!!
Behold the mighty Coffe Grinder WIP!!!

10 frames and 96x96 image
This is my reference image:

There are some things i would try to improve before coloring it, like the legs movement and some elasticity issues at the dome...
Any suggestions or c+c?
Worst thing of all is i dunno this could be a dangerous monster... unless one has coffe allergy :-P

htdreams - I think that looks flippin' awesome! I...can't think of anyway it could be dangerous either... If you're going to have a set outline, I'd clean up the lines, but otherwise, it looks great, imo. :3
Uhm...Blood? fangs on the handle? *noidea*
BTW, good luck, everyone. ;)

(WIP looks great, just clean the lines and you're ready to color it!)

Small update. In lack of free time, thus minimum 4 frames animation. A bit jerky too:
And frame 1:

Oh man, I begin to think that PSP6 is not really suited for pixel animations. Crappy quick update:

Adam, looks awesome. I think it needs one or two more frames to complete the cycle atm though, seems a bit jerky (although i'm not sure it's a big problem as it gives a freaky, ghostly feel).
Htdreams, lush animation, can't wait.

Well I think I might be finished. Not sure if I'm gonna change the frames around a little. Edit: Decided I didn't want to make a whole nother post so i took your advice bluwriter and made it 11 frames now. Deleted the old one.

That looks cool. :3 Is it laughing? I'd make it a little longer (the laughing, even if it's just repeating), otherwise it just seems a bit too short.
Nice shading. :)

Here's my creation, I call it the " Abomination of G".
I thought it would be cool to see what would happen if you put together a group of phones into one body.
Originally I wanted it to be isometric, but remade into front view because it would have turned out too small in 96x96, plus I suck at drawing.

Hi there!
Adam: i like your color choice, but i think it's moving a bit to fast, may be it would look a bit more creepy if it moved at a slow pace?
I am Uh: nice touch the evil grin :D before that it seemed to be a couch from The Care Bears... The only thing i could comment on is about the shadow, as it laughts the shadow of the armrest also goes up, but as the shadow is over the floor it wouldn't move...
Nomad-4: hehe... that same old telephone pic was one of my previous ideas, but i couldn't imagine how to make it a monster... :)

best one so far, desing wise. but the animation could use a bit more efforth in order to equal the desing, imo.
@iamuh: your pillows are quite pillowshaded

If you're going to show teeth, make them pointed, I think. A carnivorous couch is much more scary (I think) than a herbivore-couch. ^^
I'd also not make the teeth perfectly white. Look at your own teeth. They probably aren't perfectly white unless you've used whitening strips or gotten work done. XD
Ails, when doing a blinking animation, don't just do one frame and they're closed, one frame and they're open again. Too dodgy looking.

Hi there!
Here is a clean version with base color, i've added evil eyes to make it more menacing, i've tried to make the eye movement increment the "head" turn

I'll try to color it tomorrow to be in time for the challenge :)
IamUh: love the final version, that teeth promises bloody nights at the love couch ^_^
Ails: cool concept, you could add a "breath" animation to make more alive, like 3-4 frames expand-contract
Adam: the hair are flames?

Hi there!
I've started to apply colors and shadows... my weak area :P

Only a wip, but i would like to ask for some advice on texturing the sides so it doesn't looks like plastic and more woodlike.
The front right leg is finished, as it pretends to be an iron leg...
Hope to finish in time :)
|
Posted By: I Am Uh
Date Posted: 02 February 2008 at 2:01pm
Well Ht, a wood like texture would most likely show a grain in the wood. Doing so would make it look much nicer.

htdreams, would be great if you could continue working on that even though the challenge is over. It could really benefit from higher contrast.

I'll try to finish it, the problem is i'm better at drawing / animating than coloring :-P
When you said it would benefit from higher contrast, do you meant the wood texture or the dome?
Also i don't like how i shaded the drawer , it's pillow shading and it breaks the overall aspect of the piece...
Any good info on dithering coloring techniques? i know best knowledge comes from hours and hours in observation of good examples and practice... but time is not on my side... i'll try my best :)
Thanks for your encouragement !
