Personally the best thing I've done in a while. (I didn't show you guys my fakemon starters, thus you aren't exposed to the suckiness I've been generating lately). I hardly ever portray anything from the back, so there are bound to be a few anatomy messups, as well as shading... Oh, and this is for a game, thus it has to be 80x80... which is why the legs are so terrible.

Well, even in the 80x80, you can still make the feet read correctly.
Check out the skeedles WIP thread where I made an edit by showing the skeleton inside the flesh. I think that applies to your Fakemon.

Could you (or someone else) do a quick little edit of what the lower body should look like? I've been trying for a while but can't seem to get it right.

there is no "how it should look" since you're the only one that knows how it looks. but what we encourage you is to, even when its a fictional creature, it still is made of an internal bone structure, muscles, articulations and skin, wich means that the movement is limited by the felixibility of the skin, how many articulations it has to produce the movement, etc. that, and how muscles are affected -therefore its superficial appearance- when doing, for example, the head turn.
consider that your creature is turning his head. his spine should twist following the back of the head but remain still at the bottom of it. if it has a tail, i should be an extentsion of this spine and it is or is not connected to the hips -therefore affected by the pose of this-. The body is a system made of several substructures. each structure, depending on either its size and or placement, will affect the entire system depending on its situation. if you character, for example, lowered its torso, its tail would raise following the hips.
i believe I overexplained this.

This is true Terenken. I am not showing you here 'how' it should look at all. I am only hoping to help you see inside the form so that when you create your shapes you can understand not just where something is placed (shadow, midtone, highlight), but why it should.
I too fail at anatomy so I have discovered that while it takes a little longer to create something by building it up from the inside out it saves time in the end.
Notice too that your file is not 80x80 anyhoo...

Thanks Jal There were some things in there that didn't agree design-wise, but otherwise that really helped!
The legs still look a bit weird but they're a lot better! Thank you, too, Metaru, for the explanation. I'll keep that in mind.

Awesome. You will fix the tail tho, right? See how its not aligned with the spine.
