5 1/2 hours of pixeling later.. I dont know how to make it look better, but there are a lot of visible problems with it (I was hoping you guys could help me out a bit :)) -especially the buildings (could someone help me on how to make them look more building-ish? ref pic = http://wuzzadem.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/towers16.jpg  -I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but its what I saw in the drawing. Its not meant as a political message in any way |

it is not traced, but it is *highly* copied from the reference. This isn't really a bad thing since you posted your reference, but in all honesty I dont see how this can qualify for the challenge. Your drawing is entirely based off your reference image and not the original drawing (which the challenge was all about)

| The only thing I really reffed from the pic was the main explosion - I did the cloud thing on the left along with the smoke and towers before actually searching for a pic. There are only so many ways you can pixel a square building from that day, all of which are going to look similar to some video or picture. As far as I can see, however, I got the idea from the original image (which in my opinion is fairly obvious from the rotated canvas), and only shares the large explosion in common with the ref pic - the point of view and other details are similar (coincidence considering the multitude of pictres out there), but not the same |

I overlaid your pixel image over the photo, and although it was not a trace, all the details still carried over. As said before, it is not wrong to reference photos. But that was not the intention of this challenge in my opinion. It is clear that your focus was the photo reference rather than the original drawing - regardless of whether your idea was *sparked* from it. [edit] But I would like to mention that I think the art is very well executed. This is certainly a fine example of good pixel art ------------- |
