Decided to try out some different colouring techniques, here's where it brought me so far:

I take no credit for the http://www.annavanrijn.nl/%7E23/Images/Sherman%20scene.jpg - lineart .
Where I mainly need help is the tracks. Especially the bottom of the
right track. I'll also be thankful for some other pointers though!

Cool! The way youve dithered in chunks like that reminds me of Quake 1 .
First off, where's your lightsource, it looks like its from above and
infront of the tank, but the left of the front face is darkened. The
lines on your tracks aren't in perspective with the rest of the
vehicle, they are in effect on the same plane as the line above the
front star on the tank, see?
I think the problem is the track has no side edges on it. Tank tracks
arent flat, well, what is? There are like rectangular prisms a little
bit, if you have side faces on your tracks I think you will be able to
more easily follow the curve.
Only other thing I would say is some of the lines are a little harsh,
use either a closer tone to the fill colours, or AA it a bit.
Oh and also, looking at the reference pic, the bottom of your tank
doesnt match the actual bottom, the one in there reference is lifted
off the ground more, like a car.

Fixed.

Fixed too.

I'm not worrying about that one too much, the rest of the scene will be
in the final piece too, so the lines won't appear as harsh as they do
now.

You mean the dark grey area next to the tracks?

This gives me tons of inspiration Brian. This is such a great piece and it definately have "STYLE" written all over it even.
The only crit I would have is the on the left (our left) track it seems to kind of stick out. I think that is because you just traced it along with the wheel (not sure what the wheels are called on a tank ). So I think you can either draw in the other wheel and you won't have to do much with the outside lineart or you can just forget about that other wheel sticking out and just fix the track on our left.

Since a picture says 1000 words, I think two pictures will describe it better.

2000 words or not, I don't think I nailed it this this time. 3½ hours
of sleep per day just won't do for me. Thanks for your help anyhow.

Yeah lol. But what I meant was really just to keep the left (our left) track consistent. It looks like it gets fatter to that point that I showed on the edit, and the right (our right) track doesn't seem to do that so it's not a view issue, just in the matter of following the scale.

The top of the right tread, (our left), needs to be more rounded. Right now, it is to pointy. If you want, I can post a small edit I made that shows how to make that looks better.
------------- For every second spent wondering if you can do something, you could spend 2 seconds doing it.

Lol, that's exactly what I've critiqued on. I think it's because when he did the lineart, in the picture it's not as clear, but if you look closely - you can see that it's that wheel pointing out, but it blurs too much with the actual track so it looks as one whole but actually it's two separate things.

You mean that pointy wheel? Now that you mention it, it does look like it's pointing outwards.

Yeah, since it's blurry on that other refrence you showed it looks as if it is part of the track. I think now you understood those 2000 words

Very nice work so far :)
The tank on the back looks a kinda weird though... the shape of it looks too smooth.

The tip of the gun needs to be turned about maybe 2 or 3 degrees to the left for the correct perspective.
I think you've got a good thing going here. Big pixel peices are tough to me. Kudos for attempting it. *thumbs up*

THis is coming along nicely Brian. Your initial tank looks great. Do you plan on having little penguin soldiers milling around?

chuckle...
Unless I get bonus points for posting alot, I just thought it would be nice to go through the archives and see some old work... Then I started seeing stuff that had an interesting aspect or design or lineart and thought it wouldn't hurt to post a quick note on them...
Sorry, I wasn't thinking that it would revive old threads...
My bad...

The tank in the back is not the same thatnk that is on front. is it ment so?
Tank on the front has 3 different body blocks, tank on the back has 2.

Erm, I'm not making any changes on this one anymore. It's been in the
'old, neglected and forgotten WIPs' directory for a while now.
