Here is the idea.

You make an isometric battlebot to compete against other battlebots. There will be different size groups and each size group has a different number of colors you can use. You will compete against other battlebots in your size group.

The way you beat your challenger is simple. First, once you complete your battlebot, you send it to my email or you can pm it to me. DO NOT post your pixel battlebot here or else it will be disqualified from the competetion. The reason for this is so no one can take your ideas and attempt to make theres better than yours by looking at what you made.

Email-jdansby1(at)yahoo(dot)com    (Replace the (at) with @ and the (dot) with .

------------------------------------------------

-Size groups-

Lightweight- Size=50x30-80x60  Color Limit=12

Middleweight- Size=81x61-120x100  Color Limit=16

Heavyweight- Size=121x101-160x140  Color Limit=20

Super Heavyweight- Size=161x141-220x160  Color Limit=24

Transparency DOES NOT count as a color.

For example, if you make a battlebot in the Lightweight devision, you can make your peice and from 50x50-80x80. The color limit is located next to the size.

The judgeing will be done by ya'll in a different thread. I will randomly match up different battlebots in the same size class and everyone can judge the battlebots on a scale that I will place in the other thread.

If you exceed the color limit at all for your size, that battlebot will be disqualified. You can only enter one battlebot, so make it count. You can start ASAP. The deadline is August 30th.

I know many of ya'll, including myself, will be starting school soon, which is why I made the timespan almost a month long.

Remember, do not post your battlebot here or it will be disqualified.

The best of luck to everyone and have fun.

-edit-

I'm sorry, what the hell is a battle bot? Is it that cartoon, or those robots dudes built to fight each other in tournies? Post pictures so we know how these things are supposed to look.

Yes, that is part of the challenge, to make it iso.

Right, it will be 1 battlebot against another battlebot and the people of the forum choose which one is better. They will choose based on detail, weapons, design, and other things like that. I will make a list in the new thread with all the battlebots on how you will judge them.

This sounds pretty cool, I'll probably make one as I already have an idea... I hope it'll turn out good though, I'm not much of an iso person.

Hmm, don't you think 50x25 would work better instead of a 50x50 minimum size (same goes for other sizes - 2:1)?
Since it's iso, I think it would be a bit hard to fill a square unless you're making a really tall robot.

Ok, I edited the first post and it's not exactly 2:1, but I did it the way I did it so if someone wanted a weapon sticking off the top or something, they could.

Ahh... Robot Wars (what the TV program is called here in the UK), sounds like it'll be a very interesting project, there's a lot of scope as to what people can do to their 'battle bot' to customize it.

i just read this and it sounds sweet, im not too good at iso art, so could u possibly post iso box's of the sizes, i cant seem to figure them out *nub i know* so yea if u could do a 3d iso box of the measurments so i can put my bo tin it, ta :D

Date Posted: 10 August 2005 at 9:29pm

Well, the box's won't be perfectly square because the hight is half as much as the width, but if you want an example, you can look at mine in the gallery.

Just so you know, it does't have to be perfect, but if it's close to one of the sizes, I will put it in that size group.

If you have any more questions, please ask.
