CHALLENGE: Masquerade!

'The Sporting Life' challenge winner http://www.pixeljoint.com/p/9033.htm - MashPotato challenges you to pixel a scene that involves a character(s) using a mask or other type of disguise.

Canvas size: any size square (i.e. equal length and width)
Transparency: none
Animation: allowed
Colours: 16

CHALLENGE RULES

  • Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to /pixels/submit_icons.asp'>submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
  • Only new pixels allowed.
  • Open to all members.
  • Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the /forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=8'>WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.

CHALLENGE JUDGING

  • Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
  • Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
  • Winner announced the following week.

CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES

  • Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy.
  • Top finisher gets to call the following week's challenge...sweet.
  • 'Participation' ribbons will be given for all who enter.
  • No matter what happens you get challenged :)

When you say colors, that's up to 16 and not at least 16, correct? (sorry I'm kinda new to this)

yeah i beleive it means up to 16....

when you say a charicter though does it have to be a made up charicter... an already existing one... or either?

more contrast on the whole image. There is also not enough saturation if you ask me. Looks like it might turn out cool, any idea of the background hes gonna be placed on?

very nice I could see this guy standing in an empty lot with shadowy people walking by infront of him on the sidewalk. And a boy trying to look at him but his mother pulls his hand to tell him to get away from the strange man.

I made a Tiki Man
I think I'm going to put him in a scene where other Tiki People look at him with farther in the background some Tiki's.
What do you think of this..?
 
Oh, and is it racist to ake only "black" people like this one, cuz it looks weird if I draw some white people.. But I don't wanna sound racist

Are the 16 colors the base colors or the colors you use to shade also?

16 colours... and just 16 colours includes all your base colours background colours and colours you use to shade... no more colours than 16 :D

I'm finding it very challenging to stay within 16 colors for the entire thing.
 
Here's my entry:
I need to work on sleeves and hands...and of course background.
 
No clue what to put for background, though.

Challenge rule says that it can be any size square. Ok. I have something like this:



size is 110x110 but plug is out of this size. It's only decoration but I want to be sure if it's allowed. please tell me :]

So, at least submit this in your gallery, even if it's not for the challenge...That is so good to be abandonned D:
Juste make some frames longer, like when he wear a mask or when the small guy says something.

Along time ago a human named hank fell through to a dimension filled with sentient plants and was stranded there for his entire life. Over the years the plants learned to accept him as one of there own and were greatly saddened to learn that his life span is only around 80 years which seemed tiny in comparison to the thousands of years that they live. So several hundred years after his death during the annual visit to the spot which he appeared, one of hanks close friends fell victim to the same hole in the universe and is now stranded just like hank was all those years ago.
The mask and cloak thing were made to copy the way hank looked.
The reason it's on a mountain is because that is where the hole happened to be.

Well whats going on in your picture. Is there a reason this guy is up on this mountain top wearing this costume. Knowing the whole story behind a picture can help a lot. If you ask me this makes no sense, it looks nice though..but to win a challenge it also helps to have some form of mental teaser or joke to it.

Right above his head the big layer of clouds has this tail looking cloud stick out, it looks unnatural. Maybe decide where the light is coming from. Also you might want to put some mountains in the distance and a couple mountain peaks coming through the cloud layer.

Facbillgates - I think the furthest mountains in teh back need to be a light shade of grey/blue so they start to fade into the sky, this will help your character stand out more instead of having to much stuff all in focus at once.
