So ive spent a good month or so away from Pixels.  WoW ate my soul for a bit, and eventually got old, as it tends to do. I  decided to just work on some random thing to get back into things. I found a sweet picture of a rhino and decided to use it to work on my dithering and ability to work with a limited pallette, as I am used to working in 256 or  more colours.

Right now I have various purples, and am trying to figure out a good set of 2 or so warm colours to use for highlights and stuff. I meant to post this earlier to show my lines and stuff, but forgot to save in time. lol.

Here is what I have so far. Right now Im mostly looking for input with the palette used before I get too far, but I imagine i will soon enough begin my dithering and such and will require input at that point as well.

This is not for any project or anything, just some random Pixel Art.

Looks good so far, just play with the hues until it feels right, mix up the monochromatic feel.
Do you have a reference?

I used a google search for rhino and used the first face shot i found. I used it to make the lines and get the initial dimensions and then got rid of the reference, so I wouldnt get nazi'd by the original textures.

Oddly enough I just tried to find the pic to show the ref, but now i cant find it on google for the life of me

Here is a bit further in

This is the first time ive really tried dithering in any substancial amount. Ive done a touch of it here and there, but i wanted to focus on it with this piece. An excercise i guess

Is this your ref?

And it looks very nice so far. It looks a tad pillowshaded in some areas but I suppose you are still flashing things out...
This might help you with that.

Also, I agree with TINC. Just play with color until you have a nice mix.

thanks for the input guys.

Could i ask you to perhaps elaborate on ""pillowshaded"? I know ive heard the term before, but im not exactly sure what the term means fully.

Also, here is what i got done last night.
