Nice work
but with this color palette i think "The Frog Princess" is the more easy work (3 Greens no white no black or skin colors)

Still just playing around with dithering.  I'm thinking about either throwing in more components of the story or making it a less literal image and more symbolical.

We only get to put in one submission per challenge right?

yes i think like you moments...just symbolical i try one thing...
And i think it's possible to put  more than one submission (no limit???)

May I do the swiss "Schellen-Ursli"?

I'm not quite sure wether you can call him afairy-tale figure, but he certainly is a non-existing Good-Night-Story Character.

does alice in wonderland count as a fairy tale?

Wow, I'm learning a lot from the WIP getting posted this week, as well as the color restrictions-- Thanks!

I'm done for today, I'm not sure what to do next.  I feel like the background is too sparse but the objects are all so close that I'm not sure what to put in that would be intelligible.  Plus the contrasts might throw off depending on what color I use back there.  Maybe using the shaded green to show some kind of wall, maybe a window?

Not too crazy about guy's pants either.  Or some of the hands.  Or the helmets.  Ick, have to fix the 'we're.'  Embarrassing.

Also, anyone interested but still needing to refresh themselves on some of those stories: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fairy_tales

Chaos; I'd think about changing your lightsource to a more encompassing angle so you can handle the value on your body more naturally.  It seems like you're using the light right now to define the form; but you're not being consistent in all parts of the body.  Notice how the back of the arm is in shadows and the tail and back of the leg isn't.  I think introducing a texture in the yellow fins with red is a good idea, but it needs to feel less deliberate.  All the striations in the tail have three pixels of red, and the rest of the limbs have two, in the same places.  Play around with some more random arrangements until you find one that works.

I'd also think about reconsidering where in the picture your figure is sitting; as it is you have a lot of plain, blue space that isn't helping him occupy space, just sit on top of a field.  I'd also reconsider the color choices used for the bubble.

Ah Jinn, you just keep getting better and better :3

One thing I would change though is the guy's hair, maybe try mixing the dithering around a bit:

i dunno jin... there's something weird about the pic. It looks amazing. But, maybe you should change the angle of his hand holding the hag?

And here's mine... has loads of work yet, but I'm getting somewhere...

it's gonna be animated.

BTW BTW... I really love that castle hidden behind them :)

[edit]

this is what I've got so far.. the roof is killing me.. the red is too strong.. dunno what to do to make it correctly... any c&c would be more than welcome? pls? :D

Nursery rhyme characters and stories, are often incorporated into fairy tales...  Can we do one of their stories as well?

If it tells a story (like most Nursery rhymes do) I allow you to do a nursery rhyme
