Well, I've always been afraid of these things after I tried for the first time and got so impatient that I went crazy.
But then I stumbled over a really sweet and easy to follow walking cycle tutorial.( http://www.idleworm.com/how/anm/02w/walk1.shtml - link ) It really helped understand the basics and I gave it a shot. I know it's not neat and the animation itself needs a lot of work, and that's where you guys come in.
C+C please.

Ok I fixed it according to critique given on another forum.

What do you think?

I think.. you could definitely put more effort into this. If its just an experiment in movement, then do a one-pixel wireframe rather than a huge and kinda ugly brush.

Nice update, though, there's improvement there. The shoulders are still rather bouncy, they could use a little toning down and it can be done while keeping the joyous gait.

His further back arm is still a little whippy, that should be looked into.

Ooooh. Yes that whippy arm. I only fixed the black one (closest to us). Thanks for the nice CC. And yes, since this is my first walking cycle it IS sort of experimental. But I'll probably make something out of it eventually

Hey, I made a really quick edit, hopefully you don't mind, I'll list all the things I changed.

1. Deleted frames 2 and 6, as they just broke the rhythm of the walk.

2. Made the head highest when the leg are in the middle, "passing position," and lowest when the legs are far apart.

3. Smoothed the movement of the arms and legs out, and tried to keep the masses a bit more the same through the animation.

This animation doesn't have as much character as the original, but I'm guessing that you're just attempting to just get a simple walk down.

Hmm... Weird. If you deleted the frames 2 and 6 then you must have deleted the recoil possitions as it says in the tutorial. So it seems like from the contact possition (first and 5th frames) it goes automatically into the passing position. I guess it made it much easier and simpler. But yeah, I didn't intend on giving any kind of character to the walking - just a simple animation. Thanks for the help. :)

J/w, what tutorial were you using? (edit: sorry about that, missed it the first time I read the post...) (Edit again: The biggest problem with your original animation was that the feet did not move in even increments, they would slow down and speed up from frame to frame. That broke the flow, so I just removed the two worst frames and tried to smooth it out from there. It's quite a bit better than most people's first walk animations, so keep trying and you'll have it down soon.)
