CHALLENGE: Haiku Pixels

Haiku poems require the precise and thoughtful picking of each word, making sure that each is carefully placed to give the desired effect. In this way haiku are similar to pixel art. Therefore skamocore challenges you to pixel a scene based off one of the haiku from the list provided below.

Colours: 17 max
Canvas Size: exactly 50(height) x 70(length)
Transparency: No
Animation: No

Haiku to choose from:
• 1. An old pond!
A frog jumps in-
The sound of water.

• 2. No one travels
Along this way but I,
This autumn evening.

• 3. Clouds appear
and bring to men a chance to rest
from looking at the moon.
(by Matsuo Basho)

• 4. A mountain village
under the pilled-up snow
the sound of water.
• 5. A lightning flash:
between the forest trees
I have seen water.
(by Masaoka Shiki)

I started to try and do #3

Clouds appear
and bring to men a chance to rest
from looking at the moon.

but it's not going so well. I guess I'll try to work more on it after I get some sleep

If anyone feels like giving some suggestions it would be much appreciated

I'm also doing haiku number 3,
This is just a quick sketch (the height doesn't match), but I hope you can see that the clouds are trying to cover the moon with their arms.
Too bad that animation is not allowed.

I'd try to make those arms a bit bigger?

It's very interesting. :)

under the pilled-up snow
the sound of water.

It's still WIP.
The changes - another cloud and another arm, the moon craters are better, a variety of stars.
I worked a bit on the cloud shading but I think I won't do any dithering - I'm just no good with it. Or maybe I'll try and see how it looks.

DoomDoom - I love your work, it's great! The cartoony style is really sweet!

Thanks for the idea zlajonja, sometime the obvious isn't obvious enough :) I agree with artnat:
DoomDoom's clouds <3

Dro man jerr that tree will be awesome!
Killanotha1, I'm not sure if this helps - some more shading near the chin (where the head pops up from the neck) and a nose..
but but but as I said, not sure if this will help at all :)

Good luck everyone _o/
