I don't what system other countries have but in Finland at least April has 30 days :D

This should be fun. I got some ideas since I just made a real calendar for my family :P

All 12 pieces must have 12 colors or 12*12=144 colors for all pieces (12 for 1 ) ??? :D

WIP. I'm going to do all months, but I'm afraid I won't be able to finish them in time.

You only need to have ONE entry.
This means a single month!

Making a whole calendar is just a personal goal you may want to accomplish.
Not 12 5-minute calendar months but something where the theme calls for it.

Not that you will, but anyone submitting all 12 in a single day, especially on day 1 or 2 of the challenge, will probably make crappy entries. Pixelart is not about speed, its about precision and attention to detail. Its better to put your effort into a single entry and have it be great than 12 mediocre ones.

*regrets that 12 month bonus, already *

Twelve entries are a little much for moi, so I'm aiming for four of em.
Each one having their own season themed colours, chinese zodiac animal and age (spring youngest, winter oldest).

2008 is/was a year of the rat so he's an old man by now.

WIP:

Going for a water coloury WindWaker/Okami look, haven't played the latter (yet!) though so I might be a little off. Nine colours so far, I think. C/C?

EDIT: Also, I based my font on the one I found http://www.dafont.com/hirosh.font - here and I just realized I don't have "2009" on it anywhere

I'm sure you're already sick of people asking questions about the rules, but this challenge has struck my fancy and I'd like to do it and I'm confused on two small points which didn't really get answered.

Firstly!  If I complete more than one calendar page, should I submit each calendar page as a separate entry, or should they all be in one entry?

Secondly!  If they should all be in one entry, are they required to use the same 12-color palette?

I'm assuming that each should be separate and that it's 12 colors per page, but I wanted to check before settling on any color schemes.

Separately, you're assuming right.

The challenge IS NOT make the whole year, just one month.
Voting is as usual, top 3 get place ribbons the rest the green ones.

Why should the gold star thing be removed? The works still need to get out of that public queue and if they are good enough, they will. There are many interesting entries already and at least I want to see more of them. Voting for only the best 3 will be hard but that's not such a problem.

EDIT: If there are too many low level works because of 12 month bonus, change the star to something little bit more descriptive like

Now that I think of it, one has to be quite a nolife to use christmas week to make some pixelcalendar pages. It's after all about 2 pieces a day :D

A star or a ribbon is just a 48x48px graphic that in the very end means nothing. the true reward lies in the accomplished goal you set for yourself.  in the effort of keep working on every detail to give the best of your piece. you are free to send as many as you like, but you must remember that, no matter how many you want to send, 1 single solid piece will be ALWAYS more than 9999 pieces. not to mention you will just flood your profile with filthy fifty green ribbons.

says the one who did 8 entries for a challenge.

Hey there people! I'm glad that so many of you are enjoying this challenge, but please if possible do the best pixels you can. Doing all 12 gives an extra kick to the challenge, but at the same time you don't want to be filling your gallery with 12 rushed or average pieces of work when you know you could of done better. Artists on this forum will give you helpful tips and advice on how to improve your work and this would be far more beneficial to you, rather than just ignoring the comments and rushing to the next piece without fixing the problems on the last pic you did.

Good luck everyone!

Edit: Ewwwww..I just read that back. I didn't mean to make it sound so preachy....

*This will be a most taxing week 9.9*

You need to make any month using UP TO 12 COLORS, therefore...

Anyone's 12 separate months can can its own unique palette of up to 12 colors each. One month having nothing to do with the other in principle.
All months are added as single pieces.

The idea behind making a whole calendar was meant to be a personal project for y'alls gallery to showcase a set of art for any potential client or possibly to impress the ladies/gents too.

Anyone attempting more than one month is better served making QUALITY over QUANTITY. Only one month will win the 1st place so quality will trump quantity and your gallery will just be flooded with quickies and that never looks good.

BIG OLE EDIT:
I am not implying that zehavy901 makes low quality quickies. I was speaking in general terms for anyone having the same or similar questions only

First WIP. Might not finish in time because of the rush my house will be in, this night and tomorrow.

Bad for a first try? It's the first time I'm entering a weekly challenge.

With a few more colors, i think this could be a nice idea. Try finishing so you get a extra shiny green ribbon

After you have any pixelart ready you go to the gallery and under your profile click the 'submit art' then upload the small preview file then the full size art and hit submit.
(Only one file for both if pixelart is less than 100x100 pixels)
