We must use transparence = We must draw only the building and not the background ?

Working on a semi Organic, semi High tech building thing
Just wondering if the people/spaceships'll be allowed if a landscape isn't
(Plan to animate)

Yes spaceships and people etc.. are fine. Just keep the focus on the building that's all :P

Here's my work in progress.  It kind of looks like a thumb-tac in a thumb-tac.  I seem to be having a problem with transparency though.  I'm using Graphicsgale(free edition)  Can transparency be done with that?

If you're having trouble with transparency you could try http://www.iaza.com/ - Iaza.com

I haven't done anything in ISO in a long time.  I might just give this a go!

Everything is looking real good here!

This is almost complete.  I'm kind of lost for more ideas.  I guess I'll kind of just let it be the structure and shadows.
This is my first pixel art challenge, so I'm looking at this as an experience.

dpixel: you should take a look at some of the iso tutorials we've got to help you determine where you might have gone wrong with this. The concept itself is cool, but I'm afraid it doesn't add up to typical iso proportions

Posted By: dpixel
Date Posted: 28 January 2009 at 10:45am
I though isometric was 3d represented in 2d.  I looked at a few tutorials and it looks like I have a few isometric cylinders.  And the whole thing minus the shadows could fit in an isometric rectangle.

Could you give me a link to an iso tutorial to show more of what I'm not seeing?

I won't submit this if it doesn't fit.

Thanks.

I made a tutorial yesterday for future reference on how to create Iso-Circles. It's based on something done in Technical Drawing but it's not as exact

Your circles ATM aren't quite isometric

Ok.  I see.  It's from the angle you view it...that's why my circles aren't right.  I actually tried to fit them to match the others after tweaking them.

I'm actually  a programmer who has made city building sims using a 2-pixel then step up..another 2 pixels, etc...maps.  I'm new to this pixel art thing and should have thought more exacting; like a programmer.

That's too bad.  I put a lot of time into this for the challenge...My own fault though.  I won't submit this.

Thanks for the "How to create iso-circles"  tutorial.

dpixel, you still have plenty of time, don't give up!  Yours looks futuristic, like something out of the Jetsons.

On another note, I've submitted mine and changed the timing so it's not so jerky

Thanks for the encouragement Jeremy.  If I can find some more time I might submit something else.  This one would be time consuming to convert to something isometrical and have it come out right.  I'm new at this and it probably takes me a lot longer to create pixel art than most for now.   There's always seems to be weekly challenges here anyway.

Thanks again

The shading makes absolutely no sense. you really need to go and read some basci concepts about Isometric PA arylic.

@ metaru - i exactly understand your quires and it also has a reason behind it. There is not only one source of light in that particular atmosphere such as earth and thus there are also more buildings beside it so basically i made a unknown shading based on a unknown building...

Awesome   What is it, an alien apartment building?
The one thing I'm not liking at this point is the bright green radar things

This is my first challenge entry and I've just realised everyone has been posting WIPs. Wish I'd kept a log of my work to show you guys but live and learn I suppose.

I'm doing some Iso work for my Honours year and was recently in a bit of a lul of ideas. I saw this challenge and thought I'd give it a bash.

I think it's an apartment building of some kind with a comunal garden on the roof. oh and orange goo powers everything for some reason.

All comments and Critique welcome and encouraged.

Don't worry, you still have plenty of time. The voting doesn't usually start until all challenge pieces are out of the queue.

Calm, surely it will be in the contests. I like your retro composition.
