For those wanting to know the workings of it: PHP powered with Flash as the frontend. Messages/Info stored via flat files (text files). Originally was going to be AJAX based, but to many people use crappy browsers (Hello IE!) so decided to take it to Flash instead. I am still considering making a AJAX based chat that will downgrade in older browsers. If you have any questions/suggestions, please let me know. ------------- There's a pubic hair on my keyboard. I have a question. Wtf is AJAX? This is really freaking cool! Major props. I would suggest stripping down the GUI of the PixelJoint graphic and just having the GUI be very tight and simple... that way we can use the built in design based on the user's theme so they have control over their design (I can pass the user's style sheet directory in the querystring to your page). I looked at your SWF file outside the HTML and the text looks fine... the HTML was just making the Flash movie too small. How about a "logged on" list of users? |

But basilly, AJAX is a combo of javascript and XML that would make it
possible to load the new chats without refreshing the entire page. It
is actually quite cool. I used to use it on my site for posting
comments. Instead of the entire page reloading, the comments
would instantly post and show on the page. But like I said, it
doesn't work on all browsers without alot of work. EDIT: http://pickle.ensellitis.com/Ajax%5Frico/ - My PickleToy AJAX toy Not the best example, but a decent one. I am going to abandon the Flash version. I really suck at flash and getting to where I am on this, I could have built a decent server-side version... Shark: That's why we are going to have some moderators and rules. And I know for a fact that I won't tolerate people asking me every 5 seconds, so we will create something to combat that. sweet that AJAX thing is really cool it would make a better layout as
you could have many more tab slider things, like links and guestbook and polls. wouldn't moderating it require 24 hour supervision because people will be on all the time and you wont c messages from like an hour before u start moderating and the people would be annoyed. i think u cood block certain words or groups of words like "free graphics game" could be blocked, also swear words could be blocked. smiley could also be encorporated but no of those generic yellow ones ie      something original would be cool
like ur avatar character would be a fun i dea to play with. |

Please remember to logout of the chat. Until i get a online users
script working on it, it is the only way to see if someone is
online... I just added a time stamp next to posted messages. Sedge: This isn't going to be the final chat. I am working on editing some other chats that will be almost all CSS styled, then I will send you the scripts so you can do some intergration with your tables. The one being used right now is basically 100% flash except for the txt files, and PHP chat engine. ------------- There's a pubic hair on my keyboard. What the f**k??
