ok i've wrote this bloody topic about 5 times already while my internet has been closing down so i will cut it short for you, i'm making a game were you play as a robot assasin. and i want for the community to be involved. what i'm hoping people can help out with is mainly characters what they see as a destructive robot. from there you can feel free to make what ever you want backgrounds, tilesets hay the sky is the limit. but the character should be of about 20 pixels in height. all graphics you give need to use the existing palette i've used. to make it easier for you i've got the palette below:  here is everything i've made so far. What is your intent behind this "collab"? Why do you 'want the community to
be involved'? How would the community benefit from this? How will this
actually function as a collaboration? etc... Prove to me that this is not just a vague attempt to get other people to do work for you masquerading as a collaboration. If you cannot do this I will lock this thread and you may repost this in a different section depending on your intent. Do you want to create something yourself, but feel as though you need assitence in doing so? (Then this would go in the WIP section), Do you want to find someone who can create something for you? (Jobs section) Or do you want an activity where the community can be involved in creating something collectively? (collaborations/challenges) Yes, I have read yout thread over at Pixelation and it does seem that this has gone from your own personal project to a Pixel Joint 'collaboration' in the space of a few days. I will echo what has been said over at Pixelation - If YOU personally want to improve this then the only way to become "good enough to pull it off" is by studying and practicing. Try, experiment, fail. And then try again. You will not improve by just trying to get others to do your work for you. ------------- |

You will not improve by just trying to get others to do your work for you. do you even have the power to lock threads? anyways that doesn't really matter i will do my best to answer this. you are right i need all the help i can get and that was partly why i made it a collab. but it wasn't just for that reason, i wanted to get the community involved because i felt it would not only benefit my project but i'm a good programmer and i have links to others that can assist with the things i struggle with. so all in all when this is done it will be a great game and it will probably bring more traffic into here when i post up the game. and hopefully this will become a friendly topic were people can enter help out one another to make a cool end result and have some fun while doing it. my main aim here though is to try and make this fun for people so if they decide to put there time into this then they will be having fun. how will this function as a collab? well i was going to collect peoples submissions and put them in the first post. and the stuff which works good in game i will put in there. but the collaboration works because in order to make it i want everyone to work together to make these. you can work alone if you want to. but if you simply make line art or a silhouette and then let others expand on it then that's fine. see that is how i figured it would work, unless you think it might work better if i make it work differently. job section? lol don't play games with me, you don't need to hide anything around here my friend. we all know if you aren't willing to pay someone to help you in the job section then you get no replies. i went to pixelation to get help but apparently they weren't the place i thought they were. my gf said they taught here pixel art from scratch and gave her art work while doing it which they intended for her to use for website, games ect... so i merely wished for the same thing and i got chewed up and spat out. so will you join in this collab or do you still think this is pointless? |

do you even have the power to lock threads? This really does seem to be an attempt at getting high quality art for free. The WIP setion is the place for trying to actually improve your art, collabs are more for fun - if this were, say, a community game where all proceeds go back to the community and the community had an input into where the game was going, maybe that'd be different (And collaborated games, from past experience, haven't gone anywhere).
WIP section's the way to go, people make helpful edits/comments and it's likely to get more traffic too.

the traffic thing was a way of trying to give back to the community. and thats why i wanted this to only be graphically a collab because if i made this a community game it would just fail and die. this way i can make sure its good. also if people want to make input for game ideas or things that the game could have in it. you knowto direct it more then they can by all means but i'm trying to keep this graphically a collab so it doesn't fail. trust me i thought of alot of this stuff before i posted because well you have to think of them if you are serious about it like i am. so any more submitions. |

closed. make your own art, you don't create collabs: the mods do. i believe you had this problem at pixelation too. LOCKED TOPIC |
