Does he have to be in the scene? Or for example, there could be some of his giant tools or his giant footprints.

Yes, at least enough so that he is identifiable; could someone look at the image and think - "ah, that's Paul Bunyan"?

But don't let this stop you from being creative!

The bulls legs sort of make sense, its jumping, or at this stance half way in the air? Id of thought his back was more bent when hes or she is at this stance?

Awesome start btw :D

Note: The shading isn't tall pixel'd yet because I just want to block out the basic shapes first.

Seriously, I'm not very happy with it. Is there anyone except from Mushroom and me entering?

Haha, I think it's totally cute Perkele. Perhaps the cows head should be a little less tall, though?

Mushroom, the pose of the bull is really bugging me. It looks like you're trying to make him be like a bucking bull, but as-is he looks like he's just hovering.

And, I don't really have any advice on how to fix it. Look at some references from rodeos? ; _;

It looks to me like the bull is bouncing on a trampoline

I tall pixel'd everything (I hope), and changed the shading a bit.

BTW, to everyone saying the pose looks weird, look at  the reference picture I had in my first post: http://www.nationalwestern.com/nwss/media/downloads/rodeo/bull%20rider%206.jpg

Your pose and the references is much different. Notice the arch of the back, how close the hooves are, how much more his head dips down, etc.

Your's just needs some tweaking here and there before it looks great. :3

@NLTO: Make sure you put Paul in there somewhere and not just Babe.

Also, your image appears to be a jpeg, this can happen if you upload a bmp to photobucket. I'll be able to comment further and check your tall pixels if you upload a png/gif of your image.

@Jeremy: XD

Hi,
Is that right so far?

Lahra, that's definitely not all tall pixels, actually, a large portion of the picture is comprised of single pixels. There can not be any single pixels at all. each pixel must have an identical pixel either above it or below it (according to the grid).

Ska, you missed a pixel when checking Jeremy's piece, down at the bottom, in the grass. Just saying.

Thanks DD :D

@Lahra: The challenge calls for a scene, ie with a background. As DD said there's heaps of nondouble pixels, mostly in the lines themselves.

@skamocore
Thanks!  I didn't know why it kept doing that jpeg thing.  I will redo after more work.  I have been working hard at keeping the pixels tall.. we'll see though, won't we?

Ok.  Here is my revised piece.  Saved .PNG, so I hope it works for the tall pixel check.  C+C?  Would like the grass to look better, not sure on that technique.
THANKS!!

well done, almost entirely error free. Just a few here and there:

Clever idea. Although it could've been taken a bit further, you could've somehow shown the relative size of his grave. For example his grave could be shown as the same height as some buildings.

Also, I think the grave is a bit over-dithered and some of the text doesn't seem straight. Babe's nose seems a bit flat and he seems to have pillow shading on his arm. I would also try and pick a nicer sky colour. Otherwise, looking nice; the grass seems fine too. If you still want to try and improve it a bit more have a look around the gallery for examples of grass - http://pixeljoint.com/pixelart/10001.htm - this is a good example .

Good luck in the challenge heh.
