CHALLENGE: bANd-IMALS

Challenge winner ../../../../p/8625.htm - asukicco challenges you this week to pixel a musical band comprised entirely of animal characters. You must name the band, the musical genre and every single instrument the members play in the description.

Be creative, like "Quack Punk", "Pig in Japan" or "Winged Sisters". The scene can be a photo for a magazine or a photo taken at a concert, but in both cases all band members must hold their instruments (if you chose the first one, a potential drummer can simply hold his sticks).

Instruments can be fake, and even hybrids between animal and instrument are ok.

Canvas Size - A square canvas; max 200 x 200.
Colours - Max 64.
Transparency - No.
Animation - No.

To Peeter and camlio: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal - animals

So yes to camlio, and no to Peeter. But hybrids between animal and instrument are ok, so horse+trumpet=almost unicorn.

Can I have extinct animals? Not just dinosaurs, but all the other ones.

They have existed in the past, so yes. But you should give documentation or links or whatever, if you decide to draw an unknown extint animal, we should know :)

Here's my WIP:

My band's name is Link-N-Bark...I had a hard time deciding on the name, I had a list with 10...

@ Asukicco - A couple of questions:

Can we make up a band or do we have to use a known name? Are home made instruments allowed?

One group from my list was made up of barn animals and had milk cans, pails (anything found in the barn) for instruments...I was gonna name them "Moos over my Hammy"

@darchangel: Instruments can be fake so yes, home made instruments are ok.
And the name doesn't have to be referenced to an existing one. You can totally invent it, as well as the instrument.

Haha, are those the bee gees? xD
Anyway, I think you have to give them an instrument, if they're singers, you should give them some mics.

I feel as though your perspective is off. the singer and the guitarist seem to be almost laying on their backs. as opposed to standing straight up.

Looking good, SUPAFLOW! It seems quite washed out as a whole, needing moar dark colours :P

I'm just refining nooooww....
If the floor looks crap, please tell, I've been looking at this thing for far too long!

Well, what material is your floor? If you don't know, then consider just leaving the surface of the stage untextured. There's no point to adding details just for the sake of adding details.

It is a bit washed out as you said, maybe a much darker colour as a bg colour.

The back part of your stage isn't straight. It could very well be a wonky stage, but I don't think that was your intention.

The right side of the image confuses me, a lot. I don't understand the texture you've placed there - it really seems quite messy, the angle of the light seems a bit out of perspective and the stage looks like it is floating.

Spotlights can produce some really nice effects, but first you need to think about where the lights are, what colour the lights are, how far away the lights are and how strong the lights are. The lighting on your scene is nice but at the moment it still seems a bit inconsistent.

Have a look at some images of live performances. There are heaps of images floating around the internets. Especially take not of how the light plays on various objects
