Ok. I have started to experiment with a (for me) new technique when
dithering and coloring. I can't really explain it so i give you picture
to study: I know this technique isn't very new but I would like some pro tips and such. Does the technique have a name? Is there anything I should think of when mixing colors (besides the obvious color theory that comes into play when mixing colors..) So feel free to say just about anything that can help me improve. Anything goes.  |

Don't have any real crits for you. But I think that's called interlaced dithering.

I believe he's right. thought i'd read it more often than i have, apparently, as pixelation gives few hits for interlaced dithering (one of which containing what may have been a helpful post by peppermint pig, but the image is now gone). I can't really be of much help either. I'm sure someone can though (either at here or pixelation) |

| while im thinking that the detailing with red tones is somewhat not neccessary at this point, i think you should more or less finish the other parts to a certain extent and then go for the detailing, just a suggestion but whenever i play with many colors (adding more, andmore and more) then i get lost after some time and some parts stay unfinished because i cant focus on everything anymore and youll notice things that are unfinished and undetailed even after your own confirmation of completion |

Yes, now that you mention it i see some resemblance to interlace dithering. ThereIsNoCure: Thanks for the tip but I don't feel like registering to yet another internet forum. I allready have dozens forums that I try to keep track of. :) Elk: For now I'm just fooling around and don't have a general plan for the picture so I just add details pretty random just to see how it looks, to get the feeling of the technique. But then, I have never been the organized type. My pictures tend to grow with a life of their own as I add details, change details, do and redo, delete and start over ad nauseum. :) Thanks for the comments! |
