CHALLENGE: Pixel Logos

../../../../p/9092.htm - Lollige challenges you to create a logo using your Pixel Joint username. Your logo must be legible. No pre-existing fonts.

Some logo examples:

Canvas Size - Height - Max 100; Width - Unrestricted.
Colors - Max 32.
Transparency - No.
Animation - No.

CHALLENGE RULES

  • Participants have until this upcoming Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) to /pixels/submit_icons.asp'>submit their entry (strict). Don't forget to check the 'Submit to weekly challenge' checkbox.
  • Only new pixels allowed.
  • Open to all members.
  • Posting WIPs in this thread or in new threads in the /forum/forum_topics.asp?FID=8'>WIP section is highly encouraged, but ONLY SUBMIT YOUR FINAL ART.

CHALLENGE JUDGING

  • Every Sunday at midnight (12AM Pacific) the previous week's entries are judged.
  • Every week a new voting poll will be posted for previous week's entries.
  • Winner announced the following week.

CHALLENGE PRIZES/GOODIES

  • Top three finishers will receive an award displayed in your PJ gallery profile for all to see and envy.
  • Top finisher gets to call the following week's challenge...sweet.
  • 'Participation' ribbons will be given for all who enter.
  • No matter what happens you get challenged :)

16 Colors. Background finish, but not in this piece.
I'll work on the outline and finish the cane.
(The "P" isn't finish, yet !)

Ok This still isnt done yet.....



But.... I want to add a glow affect or blurr affect to make it look cooler. this is what happens when I use the blur filter in graphics gale.

I know I cant use this version as I did not pixel the blur by hand. but does anyone have tip on how to get something like this or a glow effect or something by hand. detailed tips are nice. thanks. other C&C is ok too...

I understand that filters are bad. I was just using it as reference. If you read my post it clearly stated that I wanted to know a way to get that same effect, but without the filter. not that I ever wanted to use the filter in a piece.

This is something fast I made... I'm still planning how to make the logo... for now I'm just messing around making messing fonts so I can get inspired to get an idea... but nevertheless this is a WIP... of something that might not make it as official... but still... :P

I really like the style you have here. The shadows on the font are great. Plus the palette is just great. I'd say I like the black version better, but the green version would be cool if the background was textured like grass a bit.

Tomic: MC Escher called to complain that you're giving him a headache.
Antifarea: I really like the adaptive font, but be careful with the fatter lines that you use for depth : it may be better to "simply" make light come from top left or something.
Blendaz: z seems small.

I can read "Tomic", but it took me time to actually find the letters.

If I didn't know the name, I would only see a "T" and a bunch of surreal blocks.

I'm guessing this is probably a no but are we allowed to add other things to the logo? Like a face thats attached to the lettering or like...an object that the letters are wrapping around or something like that?

I can find the top of the I, but not the bottom. Though it takes a moment for my mind to see the letters, I can read it~ I likes, can't wait to see the colours~

anyways, got kept from working on it the last couple of days.. had to finish the ninja report first =)



hope i can find the time to finish it in time this weekend;
decided to go 8 color again..

@skam: hehe =)

@prustel: i'd recommend some kind of connection between the letters.. graffiti rarely features such spacings.

indicates that you eventually were able to read it. lawyered =)

dunno that complaining reminds me on 80 yr. olds that grew up with nazi and/or communist realism, standing infront of a graffiti and don't get it. graffiti rarely aims for readabilty.

as already mentioned: the cool kids did get it.

took me a few moments to read.. already knowing what it should say helped actually. i'd recommend changing the first letter - looks a bit like "snek" atm.

but hey, pixelart still offers filename-enlightment (tm) ;D

also, remember that the canvas sized is limited to 100px in height.
