I went through my old programs today and found the program that "started it all".  It was a game called 'Evil Animation' and it contained my very first pixel art.  My eyes burned at the sight of the horrible art and i couldn't bare the thought that I was once a newb.  to make me feel better, i decided to redo the entire game as well as all of the art.  I know, I know, I should be working on my pirate challenge (or my alien WIP), but this was very fun to work on.

This is the comparison of my old tiles (left) and my new ones (right):
(yes, I was the kind of newb that thought the spray can was the solution to everything)

Here are all of the tiles i've made so far:  (more to come)

and here is a demo screen showing how it'd look when tiled: (and the old screen)

C+C and whatnot is, of course, always welcome in my threads

thats nice, but i dont like the way you hae made the create 3d looking
doesnt look right plus the grass sticking up from the bottem of tiles, and
the flat grass on the top clash and it doesnt wuite look right.

but other than that great!!! and in the original demo screen.. is that a
teletubby :s lol

thanks for the help - changed alot

* fixed border of dirt tiles
* fixed the box
* added coins
* added a WIP game char

lol yeah... it was for a 72 hour compo with the theme of "mindless violence."  So i decided to make a game where you kick the crap out of all your childhood villans including a telle-tubbie, big bird and barney.

I think the grass loks fine. It is sort of marshy. Poor guy born with only stu,mps for arms.....it makes me feeling like  bieng mean to him. I think a nice light blue dithered sky would finish this off well.

I think this is fantastic dude! It's always great to go back to an earlier piece and see what you can do with it. I always try and rework something I think has potential. This is going to be an actual game as well? Or just a mockup?

Yeah, i still have to do the background and such....I'm thinking about doing some parralax scrolling too.  I'm not quite sure what i'll do with it exactly though.

If all goes well, this will be a completed game for all to play.  I'm gathering with the original team to see how much we have all improved when we make it's sequel.

the original team:
Indigo (Calypson): Artist
Moose: SFX, Music
Rembrandt: Programming

The problem i'm having right now is i can't find rembrandt anywhere.  If i can't find him, i'll have to do all the coding - which is fine since I'm a pretty okay programmer myself, but it kindof defeats the purpose of redoing the game with the original team.

I like the new tiles but I like the old box better, seemed to have more detail.

What program is the game coded with?

well if i were to code it, i'd make it in Play basic.  but since we found another programmer, we're going hardcore C++.  Bugboy is our new coder.

It will have 3 worlds and a total of 9 levels.  3 hazards, 6 minion enemies, and 1 boss per world.  The bosses will include telletubbies, bigbird, and barney.  Each world will be themed to each boss.
