Here's my 1st uploaded attempt at the Moustache challenge... I was going to leave the BG blank but it just looked off. I don;t have a lot of time to devote to this but I'm sure there is plenty to improve.

Crits and comments appreciated... although if I get really busy, nothing will change.

it looks like he has two mouths...
shade the nose...
also, you might want to texturize the moustache a little...

Because... Random amorph smiling stick with a cup... And you want CRITS... Come on! You will not catch me so simple. It must be some deep ironic commentary on the PJ system which I didn't get yet.

I agree with AB Lazer.
10 minutes of randomly sketching mustache characters will get you better ideas!

Okay, I got a few minutes to clear up the nose and do a very basic job on the moustache... not a lot but it's a start.

The challenge said to do "an original character, no real life people or existing characters" so I went with an unreal character - just not an especially detailed one.
I've not had time to log into PJ lately let alone participate in a
challenge and I'm trying to stay active but don't have the time I used to
to devote to pixels. I'm not expecting to get into the top ten with this, I'm just trying to keep a presence on PJ with a quick bit of fun. The way my week looks, today may be my only day to do anything here... :(
BTW, the two pieces referenced above took me hours a day for 5 days of the challenge (I only use the internet at work Mon. - Fri. due to home responsibilities).

Undetailed character demands lower resolution - you could go as far as to 16x16 and still maintain all details (it didn't hurt Mario, after all), but have much easier and faster handling of the form. And maybe bring more details - now there aren't anything at all to look - it has no extremities, no costume and only distinctive feature is crest on top of the head, but I maybe wrong because outline has no form to judge if it breaks from it or not.

Hmm seems you have the same problem as I have? Is this a portrait?

Sort of a gray area. As long as the focus of a piece is the face and expression, you can fairly call it a portrait. It doesn't have to just be a head. With your piece, CB, it was more about the scene and staging than the face.

So with a nautral background, mine would be a portrait aswel?
Sorry for the tread spamming, this will be my final spam post here haha.

I think its because his character is closer to the camera, and it focuses more on him than the BG.
