I'm mainly looking for C+C On the legs and loincloth thing, but some anatomy help couldn't hurt.
This has probably taken me the most time and effect out of all my pieces. I usually only do small sprites, but I've been working up to bigger.
Edit: I was thinking something like this for the avatar, but I still want to get the legs right on the first one.

I hesitate to give anatomy advice here, because I'm not sure what style you're going for (in the legs, for example, there are thick ankles and no toes, which is good for suggesting something not human).
If you'll permit me to pontificate as if it should be a monstrous analogue of the human form, though, then here goes:
- shoulders lack definition
- where's the elbow?
- wrist too fat
- thighs too small
- hand not turned to the same angle of the club
Here's a http://www.cartooncritters.com/dressupimages/troll.gif - troll image I found with Google which is similar enough to yours (in no way am I suggesting a copy, I'm just saying it has a thick neck, short thick legs, a strong chest, etc.) to show some key anatomy points to keep in mind. Here's http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/images/B00008YSGQ/ref=dp_image_text_0?ie=UTF8&n=165793011&s=toys-and-games - another troll image , which might be helpful. Note especially the biceps, shoulders, and elbows.
Thanks for the time!

He looks like he's wearing tiny glasses.
