Got stuck into this game project today, which is actually an assignment for uni, how cool is that! Here's how things are shaping up:

:UPDATE 1:

Altered the perspective on the bunker

:Update 2:

It's a high res game, 800x600, which is quite new territory for me. C&C would be muchly appreciated, cheers.

though the rest isnt, the bunker looks -very- mirrored, even though the details are different

and the perspectives are bent weirdly, like a very close horizon..

Well, I'm guessing you get the close horizon effect because the back ground hasn't been dropped in yet.

I think this is pretty cool :)  Something about the way the bunker comes out bothers me, but that's probably because you haven't dropped the back ground in.

Reminds me of TFC... those guys could be spies, and that could be the blue base.. haha

EyeCraft, you always put out really sweet stuff.  I wish I was working on a project like this.  Good luck, buddy

Hmmm I don't really know what to do about that perspective problem.

And mirrored, yeh, it's a simple geometric shape, I guess I would have to add in a lot of details like craters and sandbags and things like that to really differentiate the sides, but I just dont have time!

Dang, when's the deadline?  Is there a site for this game?

A couple of things that I think would greatly help improve this would be to give the bunker some dark outlines... this would make it pop IMO. At a quick glance, all I can see is black with some touches of red. The details are lost on them.

The deadline is TOMORROW. haha. I dont think I'll be getting any sleep tonight . Damn my perfectionism coupled with my bad planning.

Yeh I think Im going to play around with the values and colours of things later on to compress the range a bit, the soldiers are very stark.

No there's no website, but I'll try to post it up somewhere when it's done.

Yikes indeed. Hmm, well I've just about finished off the animations for the troops, and I just got the tank done then, the colours are attrocious, hehe. Still need to do a helicopter and the BACKDROP

How'd it go?  Did you finish on time?

Looking good eyecraft!

My main issue with the pic is the lack of colors in your texture for the grund and grass. Maybe addin 1 or 2 other shades would help to make it look more "alive". Also, you could always cast shadows on the ground coming from the buker, the fence and the soldiers.

Very nice work!
take care!

Well, managed to get it finished on time, but by 5am my pixel art skills were basically non-existent. So I really spat out some sh*t graphics, hahaha. Final mockup, in the game theres a HUD along the top quarter of the screen.

Unbelievably tiled background!
Non pixelled sky!
Regurgitated cliff graphic!
Palette swapped player graphic!
No tank animation whatsoever!
No shadows!

Sigh, such a shame.

where can I play this thing?  It doesn't look that bad, haha

maybe the colors clash a bit between the back drops and the play area, but I guess it's good to have some contrast in that aspect, so the player knows where he can and cannot go.
