BBD hails from a spriting(not pixel art) community. Alot of people dit existing game sprites, or Public Domain(or PD) sprites to make the end result. BBD neither edited a sprite, nor is he putting this one up for free use.
His left hand seems off, the sword is unusual, and I'm not surre how the cape is hanging on his shoulders in relation to the neck guard. It looks nice though.
