This sprite was produced for software that'll run on a Sega Genesis, so I'm curious how the final product will look on a CRT screen.
As far as actual feedback goes, I think some more texturing or dithering may be necessary to blend the black tone with the deepest purple - possibly the deepest and second-deepest purple, and the deepest red as well. On the shoulder, nose, mouth and such areas, there is a soft gradation from darkest to lightest colour; on the wings, tail and back foot, the rendering looks almost like hard cel-shading. Which might be the effect you're going for (receding detail), in which case that's just fine, it just reads to me personally as two conflicting levels of detail that could use an intermediate.
