Cuphead, but reimagined as a Sega Genesis game.
The first mockup imitates Gunstar Heroes, the second imitates Mickey Mania.
There's always been something really interesting and appealing about Japanese interpretations of Western media, whether it's TMS being outsourced to produce Tiny Toon animation or Capcom creating Marvel beat-em-ups, or the thousands of toon fanart pictures on Pixiv, stretching all the way back to Tezuka taking influence from the Fleischer animators and comic artists like Carl Barks. A difference in environmental/cultural influence subconsciously shaping the art? There's irony in a Western artist trying to imitate the Japanese output that comes from imitating Westerners, that he won't come any closer to capturing the results he wants than if he were to imitate the Westerners that were being copied.
Awesome stuff.
