Figuring this stuff out
yaa! After getting some feedback from a few artists on here, it's becoming apparent to me that I'm still approaching my art as more 'drawings that have pixels' than doing pixel art, and I'm probably thinking too much in a linnear drawing style instead of painting with those pixels.
Thanks for the input! :) I'll definitely keep the line of action in mind for character placement in future comps. I'll probably keep this one unchanged, since it's an oldie I'm using to fill my empty gallery, but if i were to make updates/fixes, is that something I'd resubmit as new art, or are there image swapping functions somewhere that I need to learn about?
I'm not quite feeling the uneven black outlines, but I love the general idea and execution. Hilarious and epic.
Hey, welcome to PJ! I like this piece a lot - it has a very distinctive sort of mock-macho character, in the vein of one of those indie titles based on a Newgrounds game (Alien Hominid or Castle Crashers or Super Meat Boy or whatever). The simplest "fix" to this piece IMO would be to put the chest in the center of the composition instead of off to the side - the action lines in the background radiate outwards from the center, which just draws attention to the imbalance of the composition as is.
It bears repeating though that this piece looks awesome - I love how beautifully rendered those arms and legs and guns are, with such bold linework.
