Not a great deal of creativity in this piece (this will be my next project)
but I`m pleased with how it has come out all the same. I tried to give it
a bit more of a hand-painted feel though as apposed to making a straight

All drawn using just a single pixel brush in 16 colours in Pro-Motion.

Here's a link to the WIP animated GIF;

And here's a picture of my reference (although I didn't draw from this
actual .jpg. I drew it from the inlay of the album);

BlazingBlyde (Level 3 Hatchet Man) @ 2/23/2013 16:13

Amazing what one can achieve with 16 colors. This is masterful!

Gamamoto (Level 1 Depressed) @ 7/21/2012 11:31

Stunning work really realistic !

cirras (Level 1 Rookie) @ 6/15/2012 23:15

Fantastic. The dithering makes everything so smooth. Doesn't even look pixeled.

Yielmo (Level 4 Lieutenant) @ 4/26/2012 04:35

 Holy moley....

clefairykid (Level 9 Federal Agent) @ 2/27/2012 16:23

I think this is amazing! Great work making it so smooth and realistic with only 16 colours <3

AirStyle (Level 5 Assistant Manager) @ 2/13/2012 00:36

It all depends on what your style is. Some people enjoy that of photorealism, such as I. Others may PA strictly for style, or a stylized approach, as do I as well. I enjoy this piece because I enjoy realism. I also enjoy some of the more stylized pieces, such as that of Jinn and his pieces.

Super17 (Level 6 Serial Killer) @ 1/24/2012 07:43

What's the point of pixeling photorealistical from a photo? Using a reference for another aim is ok I think, but this is just a copy. No doubt that the artist has very good skills and this is masterfully done for sure, but I will never understand why people adore something like this.

Brutown (Level 1 Rookie) @ 1/20/2012 14:03

 16 Collors ? Realissstttiicccc !!

PixelGremlin (Level 1 Rookie) @ 9/7/2011 12:11

I would have said you used indexed colour on PS, but this is better. The fact it's done by hand makes it even more remarkable. Absolutely stunning, one of the best pieces I've ever seen.

Gugaknie (Level 5 Soldier) @ 8/1/2011 08:08

 so realistc.

xxmantisxx (Level 6 Serial Killer) @ 7/13/2011 12:43

RaulOliveira22 (Level 1 Rookie) @ 1/30/2011 10:07

very, very, very good!

Sol Seraph (Level 1 Rookie) @ 1/11/2011 09:30

It's art like this that makes me want to learn how to draw in pixels. The sheer realism is amazing, and it's even more impressive knowing it's all done in tiny dots!

It rocks. Keep up the good work!

sqito (Level 1 Rookie) @ 12/5/2010 08:43

mriorgute (Level 1 Depressed) @ 9/13/2010 17:03

 Incredibly photorealistic. Well done!

slym (Level 8 Rear Admiral) @ 12/17/2009 15:13

The WIP animation says otherwise.

JJoploo (Level 2 Hired Gun) @ 10/18/2009 18:55

Shut up, there's no why this is a pixel art. You must have reduced the colors on a picture of something. O.O

Moskau (Level 2 Quiet One) @ 9/21/2009 08:36

This is one of the most amazing artworks I have ever seen.

jamesmorrow07 (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 8/19/2009 14:35

Flawless! That's all I have to say.

Vectomon (Level 2 Hired Gun) @ 8/2/2009 08:16

At first i was like

"WTF  where are the admins this is clearly NOT pixel art."

but then i zoomed in and my respect for you went  <9000.

kvetacek (Level 7 Sheriff) @ 6/30/2009 23:01

How much time did it take you to do this?

susuwataris (Level 6 Yonkyu) @ 5/21/2009 16:36

I'm  am almost crying, seriously, this is gorgeous.

Pumpkinbot (Level 2 Peon) @ 5/20/2009 17:20

Woah, that looked like a photograph at first! D: 5/5, for sure!

verfum (Level 3 Private Eye) @ 5/6/2009 15:36

Another comment has been made (jedzed) about anti-aliassed work looking 'photoshopped', which made me think...
When I started 'pixelling' in the late '80s, systems such as the Amiga and their rich pallette became a boon for artists, allowing 'antialiasing' to give the effect of straighter edges, and other effects. We used it constantly; and for this early period many of us didn't look back, less try to emulate the 'raw' limits of older 8-bit systems' graphics restrictions.
It's interesting as time has moved on we see more-and-more pixelled styles revert to the non-antialiased (aliased?) styles that artists had no choice but to use, but now use in anger - Metal Slug being the obvious example.
Do we think anti-aliassed work today, a technique that could once only be produced meticulously and skillfully by hand, has a lesser credibility now that such a technique (cheat?) is the bread-and-butter of modern art tools - even tools that are meant purely for pixel art?
Just a thought :P
