Okay; so this is alot about symbolism (apparantly). I had a few ideas in mind when making this piece, but the most important one was abut people. You know how the world can seem like a gray and sad place? And then that person comes around like a spark of colour with their charm/humour/ideas/friendliness/etcetc. (I originally made only the shell coloured to enlighten that it isn't always the person itself that makes an impact, but things they carry on or how they make people feel - and sometimes even change themselves.)

Daruda (Level 4 Button Man) @ 5/22/2014 17:15

I love it so much!
The way you colored it is perfect!

Neela (Level 2 Flatfoot) @ 4/10/2013 12:48

I like :-) The blue combined with the purple shadow reminds me of blacklights somehow.

Erstus (Level 3 Private Eye) @ 4/24/2012 15:01

Awesome glow ! , and pretty dithering. And i like the concept.

HummingBird (Level 1 Thug) @ 2/27/2011 05:43

So lovely colors... So lovely snail...

Hrunting (Level 2 Flatfoot) @ 8/5/2010 20:11

Reminds me a ton of the zombie snail parasite...Except, you know, with the exact opposite mood.

The contrast on the piece not only suggests that the snail's shell is emitting colored light, but that everything else is greyish-blue.  It's like a warped take on greyscale.   I love it.

Jabber (Level 3 Private Eye) @ 7/17/2010 12:58

 Great colors.

avo (Level 7 Mass Murderer) @ 7/14/2010 11:45

nice application of the feelings there

darchangel (Level 5 Killer Klown) @ 5/24/2009 16:24

This is just amazing, love the detail and the pallette chosen. It would not have been the same if you would have made it full color.

smk (Level 6 Hitman) @ 3/29/2009 13:24

Love the pixel, love and identify the symbolism. Great job and kudos!

Victor Rojo (Level 8 Cannibal) @ 11/30/2008 19:07

iLKke (Level 9 Nidan) @ 7/25/2007 14:50
Somehow I missed this one. Lovely color scheme, very confident technique, and that snail has the cutest smile :D
Glad to see there are more people who notice that magic does in fact exist.

HoofFoot (Level 8 Regional Boss) @ 7/10/2007 09:05
Aaaw! *huggles the snail* You sure brought colors into my day!

Rinibunny (Level 1 Rookie) @ 2/11/2007 08:00
The colors are very beautiful. The whole image itself is very cute.

Opacus (Level 7 Ichikyu) @ 1/5/2007 07:34
I want to hug those colours.

vanSchmidt (Level 1 Intern) @ 12/9/2006 01:45
Ownage in shading

zAk (Level 3 Stalker) @ 10/16/2006 08:20
I like it how that it seems that the shell is glowing and it is night (when its dark it seems everything is grey). Also the concept and the thought are also so simple yet interesting... this deserves to be 1st top pixel art...

Mirre (Level 7 Sheriff) @ 10/15/2006 09:33
Helm: I normally do not post descriptions to my symbolism art, but this time several people requested it in the WIP topic I did of this, and so I posted it here as well.

Thanks again everyone for commenting and fav'ing and rating! Love you!

buloght (Level 6 Hitman) @ 10/13/2006 10:20
Beautiful. I love the greyness against the color glowing snail.

thor (Level 1 Depressed) @ 9/12/2006 14:08
Ten points to you for prettyness and concept

Helm (Level 5 Detective) @ 9/12/2006 05:06
Very nice. I'd rather not listen to explanations of the intended symbolisms, personally, when looking at symbolist art. It's supposed to work on it's own, no?

HMC (Level 7 General Manager) @ 9/10/2006 14:49
6'd and fav'd for pretty colors.

TheChaindog (Level 4 Murderer) @ 9/10/2006 09:35
Love the lighting, and most of all the idea behind the pic. Instant fav.

Darth Mandarb (Level 10 Operative) @ 9/8/2006 15:51
Excellent lighting!

I don't usually like black outines, but this works for me!  Great job!

ZZZkodi (Level 7 Mass Murderer) @ 9/8/2006 06:38

Wooow. Thanks sososososo much for all the fav's and comments everyone. I'm really flattered! I had no idea so many people would like it. Yay!

sk8m8trix: it has eyes?

sk8m8trix (Level 1 Rookie) @ 9/8/2006 04:59
i really like it... but the eyes are kind of weird

Saboteur (Level 4 Shichikyu) @ 9/8/2006 00:39

Normally I don't fave stuff just 'cause it's pretty. Not only is this pretty, but it also has a level beyond art that makes me want to applaud. Unfortunately, me clapping in front of my computer makes my family want to call the men in white coats.

So I'll stick with giving it a well-deserved fave :)

Carl Flixen (Level 1 Jukyu) @ 9/7/2006 20:03
The caparison is of it  is of a winkle

It really turned out lovely, it just looks so magical. Also I'm a sucker for pieces that could pass as little porcelain/clay figurines <3
