Thanks for the comment. TBH this picture didn't start with the concept of an egg at all, it was purely abstract. Then as I worked on it I thought, well this kind of resembles an egg, I guess I'll call it that. I've also gotten some comments on how it looks more "cybernetic" than "magical" so it's a case of there being some tension between the name and the image... it's kind of meta in that way.

Very interesting surface texture! It doesn't entirely look like a 3d egg, though. It seems flatter, more like the reflective visor of some sort of helmet. I think the culprit is the bright outline all around, and the long reflection streak in the middle. An egg would normally have a smaller rounder reflection. If the bright outline is to suggest glow, then the glow should cast on the floor as well, showing how the egg sits in space.
