I've been doing portraits for a while but I usually use a huge color palette and a pretty big canvas size. I have been wanting to try something simpler, with a limited color palette. I am still new to this so limiting my parameters is still a challenge. The subject is my wife.

Thanks for the advice. I'm always concerned about pushing it too far and I end up falling in a kind of lukewarm in between. I'll bump the contrast on my next one. Stay tuned!

Nice portrait! I think you could push the contrast in the shading a bit higher in future, limited palettes are good for forcing that :)
