A research if NES has enough capability to implement typical 90ies RTS game, without any extension chips. Apparently it has barely enough memory. 8x8 pixel grid is a must to maximize screen space and reduce memory footprint. Pathfinding will require precalculated hints. Small maps (64x64 max) FOW is either absent or handles 8x8 cell areas.
