When it comes to making pixelart I have two particular hangups - (a) prioritising how the finished result looks at 1:1 scale, versus how it'll look to people when it's on their phone or monitor and blown up to like 600% size; (b) pushing for maximum detail/shading, making the optimal use of whatever real-estate and optical illusions I have, at the expense of breathing room. The pixelart of my peers often operates under different rules, characters/objects assembled from blocks of colour designed to read clearly when magnified. I have trouble producing art like this because then it feels 'unfinished' to me, or maybe I subconsciously want to show off and I can do that by working over (or overworking) the blocks of colour. The important part for now is that while I still work on pixelart zoomed in, with a 100% size window in the corner, I need the end result to read nicely at both sizes rather than super-nicely 100% to the detriment of 600 or 700 or what have you.

Even in pixels, Velma is still hot. Thank you for sharing!

The sprites look great both at 100% and any other scale to me

Her facial expression is so minimal yet so recognizable, love it!

you're a lot more thoughtful than me. I always draw with one magnification in mind and when people look at it I'm like "no you have to be at 376% scale. See?"
