A personal pixelart illustration
232px wide 300px high

Exploration a prince character in a renaissance dark fantasy setting.
I played heavily with lighting and tried to make everything very dramatic. A clear focus has been the costume and scene design, small details have been chosen and rendered with great care.
My goal was to keep the serene / dreamlike aesthetics I highly value in dark fantasy while also using very strong colors in spots to achieve a colorful feeling which however doesn't disturb the aesthetic focus.

Nice! The sparingly used saturation and color balance make it a real masterpiece!

Metomunc (Level 2 Flatfoot) @ 12/5/2022 22:20

Great attention to detail!  Really liking the maccaroni and the use of lighting.

Artificer-111 (Level 5 Artificial Intelligence) @ 12/4/2022 13:05

The cinematic lighting has a great effect, both this and Seize have a very striking effect of the character outlined in light but their interior details only slightly suggested in the shadow. Environmental detailing is great, taking your time with the subtle gradiation of the light across the wood grain doors paid off nicely.

nice work! -light, colours, small details

MrQuetch (Level 5 NES) @ 12/3/2022 00:46

Incredible! It's what I like to call a "pixel painting".

Tosych (Level 3 Topaz) @ 12/2/2022 01:24

Very very nice work!

@Theoden: Yeah bc. this is pure ilustration and pretty far removed from games. A lot of the stylistic decisions I make are just based on having things work in games in multi-context scenarios.
JUst drawing a painting is quite different from it.

@Irenaart: Thanks a lot. I worked on it during after hours for about a week.

Such an amazing piece, the lighting, the textures, everything!

Space-AgeWrangler (Level 6 Blue Crab) @ 11/30/2022 14:05

Really cool how you have part of the sword in shadow against the red cape and part of it in the light.

SeDiceBisonte (Level 8 Spaceman) @ 11/30/2022 12:35

This is one of the most atmospheric pieces I've seen. Everything is so lovingly rendered that you can really feel all the materials and smell the air. Every little area feels like it has a history. You can sense the age of wood and metal of the doors, and the stone on the floor and walls.

Absolutely superb work!

Theoden (Level 10 Operative) @ 11/30/2022 12:31

Excellent work. This deviates a bit from your usual style, it threw me off.
I can usually identify your style at first glance but I was happily surprised to see your name :)
I love it.

Gorgeous piece! It looks almost like an old masters painting. Can you tell how long did it take you to finish it?
